Razor bumps I think.,

Gents,
using freshly honed razors that are finished mostly on a suehiro 20 k.. After shaving I'm always winding up with razor bumps..the bumps last a few hours then my face goes back to normal.. Any suggestions on how to help,avoid these red bumps.. Tonight it was obvious the razor needed some hone work because it wasn't a smooth as normal shave,?? But in general always razor bumps.. Help a brother out..

True razor bumps are ingrown hairs caused by shaving hairs below skin level. 99% of the time this is due to ATG shaving and can be cured by avoiding ATG.

I was plagued by razor bumps for years, for the simple fact that I didn't know how to shave. However, my experience does not match with yours at all; usually the bumps appear the following day and will last for a few days - even more if you attempt to shave over them before they heal. I'm sure others will tell you as well that they don't clear up after a couple hours.

My guess is that you could be shaving with a slightly toothy edge that is irritating your face, especially in sensitive areas.

Yes, Ryan is spot on. If your beard is used to a regular light shave and you do an aggressive one, follow up with a shave or be prepared to take the consequences! If I take a 4 day break, I know those hairs are bending in. Gonna be a problem!

Wasn't a great shave I think like I said the razor needs hone work. Only bumps occur on my face. I do two passes one wtg xtg

You could be plagued with overhoning/harsh edge with that high a grit finisher. Go with a CroOx-pasted strop for 40 whacks and back to leather for a re-shave. It happens!
