Default Canvas strop and a slurry instead of paste

    Hi all,

Haven't been around in a long while. Started straight shaving again after a hiatus of a couple of years. Feels good to be back into it.

In the past I've seen a lot written about canvas/linen strops and about the various pastes some use with them. In the past I've even used a little white blackboard chalk which didn't seem to hurt.

Typically when I finish a razor I'll create a slurry on my Belgian Coticule and give my edge a final polish. Just to be clear the slurry is a coticule slurry not one made with a naga stone. In any case for a while now, instead using a paste or chalk I thought of applying my left over slurry to the linen. Seems to work quite well.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

    Nice to be back,

    - Totton

no idea, but I will have to give that a try. It sounds like it would be pretty efficient, and you have peaked the interest of my frugal side.
