My Grandson's Shaving Gear

Gentlemen,

My young grandson, who happens to live next door with my daughter and her husband, frequently visits me in the morning in the shave den. For a while, he was constantly reaching for my silvertip brushes. Finally I decided to set him up with his own shaving gear.

Oh, young Henry is only 2 years old.

His older brother Max, 5, is way too busy with computers and reading to care about shaving at this time, but I have plans for him, too, when I feel he is ready.

In addition, each boy has his own set of double edge razors already: Gillette Aristocrat, Fatboy and Red Tip. They are stored in my shave den closet. Naturally, someday in the far distance, they will share my straights. Far distance, I said, since I'm not planning any journeys to that barbershop in the sky.

I might as well start them early. Gentlemen, have you traditional shaving plans for your children and grandchildren?

In the meantime, here is young Henry's shaving gear. The double edge is the Yuma (no blade, of course); the straight is an old antique butter knife; and the cartridge razor a toy; one brush is the Van der Hagen and the other a toy.

My two sons think I 'that old crazy man that happens to be our father' and don't care about the finer points of shaving. Five granddaughters and one grandson, now 17, totally into computer games and looks like he won't have anything to shave until he is in his 50's. You are a lucky man Obie.

Pix, I forgot to mention that. Young Henry then wants to smell my aftershaves, and while my daughter holds him, I uncap each bottle and let him smell it. The fragrances he especially seems to like are Spanish Leather by Truefitt & Hill, Woods of Windsor and Alvarez Gomez. I like those, too.

That is the face I usually wear when shaving. Did he learn that from you rolodave?

I gave my 19 year old grandson a gillete fatboy, soap and brush when he headed off for college last year , he now shaves pretty good with it , he wants to learn the straight now this Is a great thing your doing for our next generations ,, start them off right thanks for this thread Obie tc

If they are favourites of yours you probably wear them more, so they remind him of you when he smells them.
I have a daughter, if she wanted to use one of my razors she could if she wanted too, well not yet she isnt quite 7 at the moment, but you know what i mean.

Yep, he has all the contortions down pat including ridding the nose of lather.

Yes i have plans. i have 2 son aged 2 and 8. Big one already has his set. A puck of arko in a steel jar, a omega boar brush a feather popular... He loves bowl lathering. Also i buy if possible things in twice. For example i have 2 feather popular and 2 persian jar... Etc
