Default Question for the ladies of SRP

Looking to get my girlfriend a DE an brush gift. I have read that most ladies prefer a larger handle brush. My question is what knot size do you prefer? I would assume a larger bulb shape would do better for the added area of the legs. I am looking to buy in a month or so. Thanks

Hi there! For me, the brush WEIGHT is more important than the knot size. I like something that isn't too heavy nor too light. It should have a handle that can be gripped easily. I hope this helps - I do a bunch of videos on ladies shaving, she might want to take a peek to get started and let me know if you have any questions! Happy shaving! Tif

Hey tif I have watched a majority of your videos. I actually used them to get her interested. So thanks for that. Is your go to brush a custom or are you using a mass production style? Also do you find soap or cream better for a ladies uses? I have a few different brushes an was thinking of letting her try them to see what she likes, but I don't have any with longer handles as I prefer shorter brushes.

Hi! Matt had a local artisan make the brush for me, its a pink acrylic handle and badger knot. (can't remember the knot size, sorry) I alternate brushes and have found that the shorter handles work just as well for me as the longer handles - don't get all twisted up at the beginning trying to find the perfect one It can be really distracting from the learning curve and if she gets her heart set on something that doesn't WORK for her... I love the idea that she is going to try out your brushes and can give feedback on her experiences. Very cool.

Soap or cream, eh? I like em both. Soap took me longer to lather efficiently (but I am not the type to get discouraged!) and I have found some creams (especially scented or cream mentholated) can dry out during the shave and/or dry out the skin too. I say: ingredients first. Try to go as natural as possible - there are a lot of vegan recipes out there too! Check out Petal Pusher Fancies & Ginger's Garden for some great lady/crossover soap options. I hope this helps! Happy shaving!

I told her not to shave for a couple days. I am going to shave her Saturday. Feel like I can give her a better experience then if she just does it to start with. Plan on using one of my milder DE's an just give her a relaxing shave. Hopefully it gets her addicted lol.

Very cool, keep me posted! (You can also let her know that I used to shave EVERY DAY with a cart razor - with a DE I only have to shave 2X a week and once a week after a straight razor shave!) Happy Shaving!

Well I gave her a nice relaxing shave yesterday. I actually had fun doing it an she almost fell asleep on me. First words out of her mouth when I was done was WOW I don't have any of those red bumps. I told her that's because she had no irritation an it will only get better if she continues using this style of shaving. For the rest of the evening she asked me questions an rubbed her legs. I will take that as a success. As far as brushes, I used my largest EJ.26mm Worked great. So now the real fun begins. I got to find her a DE kit that's girly. Thanks for the help tif may have a new convert.

I was thinking of doing the same for my wife, maybe make her a brush at very least. Useful info for sure in this thread!

Sic go for it! Have to say it was fun an she really enjoyed it. Already asking when we can do it again lol. Also definitely watch tiff's videos if you haven't already. Although its just shaving an the basics are the same, I did notice the cream drying out a bit like she had mentioned. Also the almost constant curve to the leg changed my attack a bit. Found it a bit harder to find the "flat" spot, at least harder than say a cheek. Good luck an keep us posted too.
