Default More than just a shave

I'm getting more out of straight razor shaving than just ultra smooth skin. After work, then the gym I've found that it is very relaxing to shave. The whole ritual of nice hot shower, stropping, lathering, shaving, and cleaning all my shaving equipment has really helped me unwind from the day. For me, using a straight razor has become an important way to relax and center myself, I really feel recharged. Those 10-15 minutes that encompass the process of straight razor shaving is something I look forward to.

Before I started with straights I shaved every morning but now a nightly shave is still very smooth the next morning. I find that I'm only shaving in the morning a couple of times a week now, and that is only if I have meetings scheduled. I hated shaving prior to using a DE and now straights.

Sounds like you're hooked and you have transported over from the darkside.

Me too. I do shave in the morning, though, because if I shave at night, my face might still be fine in the morning, but toward the end of the workday, I'm getting scruffy. Plus, like you, I find the process relaxing, and I like to start my day with one pleasure. I also may not be able to find the time in the evening after work with a 5 year old in the house then night classes after she goes to bed.

For me the whole thing when I get the chance to go all out is very relaxing too. Though when you tell anyone that outside of here they look at you like you have three heads

Exactly Castel. Rather irritating for someone who recently found 'religion', no matter what flavor, wanting to share it with the public. I've kept my mouth shut for last couple years; only when I joined here do I feel I have license to speak. I did manage to get my son to use a DE, badger brush and quality soap. I am grateful to have this forum to ask and share within...
