I remember in lynns video that he uses a certain mineral oil or paste that he puts in his razors when he is going to put them away for some time.
Also when i got razors from him they had this stuff on...
what is it??? where can i get it????
i have now a few razors in my humble collection and i want to keep them "moist" until i use them again
can you help fellas?

The "real" stuff is Dovos Steroil available at Classic Shaving. Many us plain old mineral oil from the drug store. Either of these are safe to the body is not wiped off of the razor so are the best choises. Other use Camila Oil, Tuff Glide, etc.... these may not be as body friendly if not cleaned off well.

Many beauty supply houses sell Barbacide, a disenfectant, lubricant, rust inhibitor that is also fairly safe.

I'm new to Camila oil but have been interested in getting some for my large collection of carbon kitchen knives. How is it not "Body Friendly"? Just concerned as this oil will come in contact with food at some point. As well as the face in the above use...

in my experience as a amateur woodworker i have used camellia oil for anti-corrosion on my hand planes. it works great! i also use it every 5-10 passes on the soles of these planes for lubricity. when i did a quick search for this oil a number of interesting sites popped up. looks like people use it on their skin for anti-wrinkle oil. sounds pretty safe to me. it doesnt have an odor to speak of. the bottle that i have seems to indicate that the oil was a favorite among samurai swordsmen. i bought my bottle at my local woodcraft. hugh bottle with a spray nozzle.

I use mineral as it's cheap, readily available and usually bought as a laxative, so it's food-grade.

From my understanding, there are two different mineral oils. Only one is food grade the other is not. The one labeled as a laxitive is food grade and safe for that use. The other one is not safe to ingest. I'm not sure what the non-food grade is made from as I never have it in the house. "Laxitive" kinds of mineral oil are easy to come by and very affordable. I use it on my knives at the moment and it does a good job.
