This morning I had my best looking and feeling SR shave to date. Granted, I've only been using a SR full time for about a month again(after about a 20yr stint with a DE, so I consider myself a beginner). Nonetheless, everything went great. I changed a couple thing, however.

1.) I re honed my SR last night. 1st time I've done this. After looking at the edge under magnification, last week, I decided to buy some hones and give it a shot. I got a Norton 220/1K and 4K/8K combo set. Along with some Black and Red strop paste. I did not use the 220 stone at all. I started with the 1K, doing 75 circles on each side. Then, 60 X's on the 4K, then 40 X's on the 8K. Then to the strop I made, which has sanded burlap on the back side of one of the pieces. 60 passes on the burlap. Then applied black paste to the unfinished side of the leather, and 50 passes on it. The strop I made has another double piece of leather. So, the red paste went on the unfinished side of the other piece, 40 passes on it. Then to the oiled finished side, 25-30 passes on it.
2.) I tried some pre-shave, for the 1st time, too. Normally, I rub hair conditioner on while in the shower. Not today, however. After my shower, I used a little Proraso green pre shave, while I whipped up my lathter with some D. R. Harris Sandalwood (normally use Proraso Green soap).
3.) Now, I did have a 2 day growth, so I know the stubble was a little softer. But, from the 1st stroke to the last stroke, everything felt 110 times better than it every has! Maybe I was just more conscience of my technique. Maybe the edge was better. Maybe the softer whiskers had something to do with it. Maybe the pre shave helped. Maybe it was all the above! I don't know!! Nonetheless, everything went great, from start to finish!
4.) Post shave I still used my 'go to' lotion, which is Corn Huskers. About 5 mins later, I splashed on some Proraso green after shave (normally, I use Stetson after shave, no cologne.)

Even after sitting on the deck and 5 cups of coffee, it feels great. Normally, about this time, my Adam's apple area feels a little scratchy and tinder, from the heat and sweat. Not this morning, it feels Great!!!!!!

Hopefully, tomorrow morning will be the same!
