Review of new Thiers-Issard forging
I think I'm a bit late posting this ( ) since you guys are already aware of the existance of the new Thiers-Issard forging, but I just thought to let you know that I posted a slightly extended review of the test blade I received from TI for testing over on B&B.

Thanks Ignatz.
I received a pre-production sample as well and found it an exceptional piece. Workmanship on mine was very nice. The blade was centered perfectly between the scales and the pivot pin hole was smaller so there was no loose play at the pivot.
I liked the extra heavy spine and the slight smile to the blade. It took a little owrk on a pasted paddle to get it where I wanted it and the extreme hardness mant more work on my part but it should be able to hold it's edge even longer because of that.
I actually liked the non-branded balde's look too. Perfectly clean and highly polished. Maybe a non-branded model will be an option.

Superb review Ignatz, I can't wait for these to go on sale. I'll definitely be buying at least one of these....

The feeling I got from what I read is all their production less the damascus and historical models will shift to this steel and that probably won't happen until they use up all the stuff they currently have so we might be in for a long wait. I'll be suprised of any comes out this year.

It surprises me that TI is French based, and I can't find any FRENCH POINT razors from them! I love me a good French point, but all they offer are round points (and maybe some square/spike points).
I too wonder when these 'new steel' blades will hit mass circulation.

Thanked: 335I'm in Fred's corner on this one and am among those who think the French Point is the best looking of the bunch. Perhaps the powers that test could put a good word in for us lovers of the sublime and have some French Points ground out among the others in this new production run. I'll bet they would be a great seller. I myself would part with several coins to help make it so.

I would like to see TI do ANYTHING other than the semi-round they always seem to and agree that the unbranded look is very attractive. I may have to get one of these.

Personally I think the branding was a way to sell more. They would sell different brandings to different stores and thus try to get collecters to get them all of each brand.
Don't know if it worked but if it did then I'm pretty sure that they won't give up on branding now.

That was a superb review, I cannot wait for TI to come out with these new blades. I hope to have one in my rotation soon.
