    Default Try, try again!

As some of you "older" folks know, I was quite active here and then disappeared for months at a time. Now I'm back, humbled by the warm welcomes that have come my way.

My absence was caused by a variety of things, mostly related to aging and other demands of life to attend to. I am now shaving 90% of the time with my variety of SE and DE razors. When the spirit moves me however, I still enjoy a nice, slow, shave with a straight razor.

Today the moment was upon me -- my wife was out of the house, and the phone was off the hook -- so I pulled out a few classics. They included a Wade and Butcher Hollow Ground smiler restored by Sharptonn, a beautiful, terrific brush made by the now departed Pixelfixed, my wonderful MDC, and Executive Man A/S splash from Stirling Soap Co. to finish.

I prepped the razor for a while on an Heirloom Razor Strop Co., "Old No. 2", since it's been a while.

I had a great time getting a great shave!

Heck what old age has done to me is give me more time. More time to spend more money on shaving gear, more time to spend shaving, more time to outwit the wily missus so she doesn't realize and more time to figure out how to hide the packages that come.

To all you others long in tooth what has more time given you????

I have all those benefits you mention, but I also now have a "tremble" or twitch in my dominant hand, and a blood thinner issue. They don't mix well.

By the way, in the past, my wife getting to the mailbox first also gave me a "twitch", after a "discussion".

More time has given me a constantly clearing understanding of what a fool I have been in the past along with the understanding that I might as well just enjoy these times since any attempt to rectify previous errors will have no impact on today, let alone tomorrow. Now, where was that ad I saw for a revolutionary drug designed to take fifty years off of your relative age?

Reminds me of a twilight zone episode where this rich guy makes a pact with the devil and he tells "her" he wants to appear just like he did when he was around 30 years old (he's now in his 70s or so) so she gives him the appearance but internally he's still the same old coger.
