Default Vacation Time = Finding Grandpa'a Razor stash

Howdy all, in a few days I'll be heading over to the ranch to dig up grandpa's "Bunch of razor stuff"... I have NO clue what to expect as I have never seen any of it, ever. Not that I was looking really

Anyway I'm going to be out of the loop for about a week or so starting Monday. I'll post what I find here on this thread the basics of my dicovery. I'll than post more indepth stuff in the forums as needed.

I'm kind of excited and scared of what I'll find. Grandpa always took great care of his wood working tools and equipment, so I'm sure it was all taken care of... at the time. It's now been in storage at the ranch for at least 10 years, with not thought to what could happen to it...

Could be good, could be scary. Anyway I look at it though, it will be fun with the posability of being able to use some of his stuff

Hey, what are ten years to a straight razor? Nothing!
I bet you will find some nice stuff unless someone has stashed the stuff away in some wet cloth.

Wish you luck and excitement on this!

    Very exciting!

I wish you great finds (but can't promise I won't be at least a tad envious if you haul a 3x15 yellow / green Escher and a couple of cases with NOS Wonderedges

    Good luck

Good luck on your journey in the great razor caper find!

Can't wait to hear what you find and see some pics of the collection.

    Default I'm Back...

Well I'm back from the ranch and got the sunburn to prove it...

Well it seems grandpa ether got rid of most of it before he passed on, or it has yet to be un-earthed.

However we did come across one razor in his dresser. A Henkel's Twin #122. Notch pointed 4/8 with black scales, maybe bakelite, no trademark on the scales though. Not much hone wear ether Some rust and pitting, but not bad. It is cleaning up right nicely really.

I'm going to sell off the other Henkels I have, #8, and hone this up for use.

I'm bummed I didn't find a treasure trove, but having this one piece is a far cry from nothing. I'm glade I have at least a piece.
