I thought that you guys might enjoy seeing this video of a father and son shaving with an ax and butcher's knife.

Proving once again that crazy runs in families

From one crazy to another, *that* is cool!

We have to shave ~30 degrees from flat on our face, right? The included angle of an axe is much larger than for a straight razor, so you could imagine shaving with the axe flat touching your face and get the same edge to skin angle you'd get wielding a straight razor properly. Not so crazy when you think about it.

"I need a wedge to mow this beard down... ah! This axe will do nicely!"

Note the length of their beards... these guys don't shave every day!

Looks to me like about a 3 to 6 month healing period between shaves.....

Naturally, the truth is somewhere in the middle... these guys are promoting their sharpening products... I liked the demo described in the older gent's book where he had his young daughter do the honing of the axe. The demo went well and proved his point that he could teach anyone to hone a "insert name of sharp device here" with simple tools.
