    Default <rant> I'm on the roller-coaster again...

    Sighhhhhhhhhhh.

My family had finally started to get ahed of our debt to the point that I had been able to start purchasing some decent razors and supplies, as well as "shopping" the B/S/T forum on a regular basis. It REALLY felt good to have expendable income.

I guess I'm supposed to always live up to my nickname, because my wife lost her job and we're back to tightening the belts again. We've been here before so we know how to manage our expenses and shuffle funds to meet our obligations, but it's really frustrating to have to put a hold on my plans to purchase some quality supplies and return to the debt desert again.

Thanks to Nickelking and Syslight I've managed to get my hands on a couple of shave-ready razors and a strop, so I have the basics, but I was looking forward to sending out some others I had found locally to be honed after rescaling them, getting a nicer two-sided strop and a few other soaps, creams, etc.

Please don't read this as an attempt to get some free stuff out of pity. I just need to vent and this seemed to be a good place for it. I can be patient, and we'll bounce back in a bit, but I HATE having to rein in my expectations when I was so close to getting some of the stuff I wanted. Thanks for providing a spot for my rant, and for the sympathetic ears (eyes?). </rant>

I feel for you! Fingers crossed that it's only a "temporary" setback and things work out soon!
In the meantime I guess you could get the wife to learn how to make top notch creams

I just rediscovered what that was when I got a new job in January after a couple years of walking a barbed wire fence. Now that gas and food are rising so fast though, I'm content with my two razors!

Getting one sharp razor saves me money though as long as I can keep it sharp on a pasted strop. Hopefully you will find what you need!

I know how you feel. Hang in there. Things will turn around again. They always do.

I know how you feel, my wife lost hers because of a bunch of . last September. Thats one reason I'm such a cheapskate and make everything I can. We'll add you to our prayers for a quick resolution.

It must be in the water around here (or the lack of water). My wife and I just came through a rough spot that hamstrung us for a couple of months. Just as we're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, we come to find out that our landlord hasn't been paying her mortgage and the house is being foreclosed.

Fortunately we were able to find a nicer home for the same money and I'll only end up losing one months rent in the exchange (assuming that she isn't going to give me my deposit back if she isn't paying the mortgage).

I had gotten a couple of straights, but I was hoping to get a strop for Father's Day. But its nice to know that I'll keep on growing whiskers no matter what, so I'll be able to shave whenever this bad stuff passes.

Keep your head up and Good Luck.

There is a lot of economic instability right now. I'm worried this recession might go for a while, so everyone should mind their expenses.

I do however applaud the fact that everyone's first use of expendable income is shaving supplies!!! I've noticed I've started allocating a portion of my bonus to shaving supplies, figuring out how much of my year end distribution goes to shaving supplies, etc. I fear we have all gone mad.

I'd run up a sizable debt on the credit cards but sucked it up and paid it off after about three years. About three months later I was driving down the highway when my engine went FUBAR . The repair bill came out to several thousand dollars . Oh, well.... Debt freedom was nice while it lasted.

    I feel for ya!!!!
Just as soon as I found a decent razor (still using cheap brush and soaps and a decent leather belt) My dell jobs got cut back by 1/3 ( I do Dell Warranty repair) and my girl friend lost 2 hours a day at her job so once again we were and still are stropped PUN intended but as we were previously able to get rid of our debt now it's just regular bills we have to worry about but times WILL get better OH YES they will

hang in there and have faith / trust
