2/28 - Woodcraft Stores all day sale

i just wanted to toss out a heads up for anyone interested. i recieved, in the mail today, a flier from Woodcraft stating that on February 28th they are going to run a 1day sale via phone/internet/catalog anyway you want to order.

10% off power tools and everything in the store

15% all finishes, glues, carving tools, wood, woodboring tools , books, router bits

20% hardware/fasteners, pen kits, pen accessories, dust collection accessories

this seems to say that if anyone is looking for a Chinese 12k finishing hone, that you'll be getting a 15% off on this day. i use it as a finisher and love it. plenty of discussion here about them if you search, but with economic times as tough as they are for everyone, i couldn't let the sale go without mentioning it to anyone out there looking. also to note, woodcraft sells wood also. you'll have to cut it to thickness most of the time but their wood is stabilized and won't warp on you if you're making scales.

I bought my Norton 4K/8K for $76 at a Woodcraft walk-in store about 3 months ago. $109.99 sounds high to me.

I did not “shop” for you, this is the result of 2 easy Google searches. Norton 4000/8000 shipped for $93 dollars.

You can do better than this if you spend some time on Google. I paid about $70 for a new one after shipping. You just have to look all around, see what the going rates really are, spring when you stumble into a deal.

i'd agree that 100$ for a combo 4k/8k is ridiculous price. i think i paid 73$ for mine. that being said who knows if there are shipping problems or production problems driving up the price. when i checked woodcraft.com they did not even have a 4k/8k combo stone in stock.

it does seem like the standard price out there is 89.99. that being said there are still some lower priced ones..

well if you are looking for a Norton set, you can find a complete 22/1000, 4000/8000, and a lapping stone for $118 right here.
