    Default A razor's sad demise

Found this on eBay. Apparently it was once a wade and butcher razor. Sad to see one more good shaver fall victim to the hands of time, neglect, and misuse.

Wade & Butcher straight razor. - eBay (item 110346935898 end time Feb-10-09 21:16:35 PST)

That is sad. I've got tent spikes that look nicer.

Its just so sad, but you see it all of the time on ebay, usually with higher starting bids. This one is priced right for the scales, but would you want to pay the shipping to boot?

At least the seller doesn't say it's "in perfect condition" or that it has "some minor nicks on the blade"... I wonder if we will ever see Mach3 razors on ebay, sold as antique items...

Haha true. I'm sure we will one day. I'm only 22 and don't have a SWMBO yet, but I'm already petrified that once I pass away my kids will put my beloved Bismarck or Wade and Butcher on eBay after letting them turn into that.

It absolutely blows my mind when I see an auction for Str8 razors and equipment and the seller comments something like: "These belonged to my Father/Grandfather......"

and, I think, "how could you sell your Father's or Grandfather's straight razors?" - or anything they owned and used. Shame on them!

    Default Well..

Lucky for us, though, some people do. Every antique razor we pick up belonged to someone, the vast majority likely had children.

    Not something I'd do, though.

I'm sure most of us users would agree but people deal with grief in different ways.
Sometimes its easier not to have reminders around.
Besides where would we get all our nice vintage razors from other than previous owners.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
