    Default Cheap microscope

I bought a 30X Tasco brand hand held microscope with light and focus knob for $4.99 at a department store in the toy department. If 30X is enough, that may be better than a hand lens.

Interesting. Just when I was thinking of looking out for a half-decent microscope. I resurrected this thread (hope the link works) and note that some of the microscopes illustrated are still available. I'm tempted by the MT3C model here and here but would welcome any comments - there may be better models available. I am in the UK and as I see it an import from Germany is the only option for this.

Edit: oops - noticed that the 'historic' thread linked above is still current - apologies for winging it over here.

I bought a handheld, LED, 100X microscope for £5 at Maplins.

    Works well for me.

Ha! And Maplin's just opened a mile down the road at the Retail Park. Thanks.
