I came accross this today, I wish he had more pics posted. In my whole 2 months of looking at razors I havent seen a Wade Butcher with this shape on the spine, is this orignal ?

Im not going to bid on it, for one I havent shaved with a wedge yet and am not sure if I will like it, second I cant really tell the condition fron the poor pic quality, and third I havent seen a blade with that shaped spine .

yes it is not rare one.i have seen at least 3-5 of them

Big Red won one a while back & the postal service lost it en route. It's a great looking blade, but as said, not that uncommon. I like very much!

Even though the pic is pretty poor I can see some serious pitting on the blade . I think $80 is about $60 more than I would be willing to pay for that razor . But that's only my opinion , and I'm pretty cheap .

I don't know how common they are but this is my copy. Picked it up on the bay and regrettably some fool sanded off the eagle etching in the side of the blade.

Mike, whether it is that one on ebay or another pick yourself up a big wedge. They are a PITA to hone but there is something about shaving with a razor that is 150 years old. If only they could talk, what stories they could tell.

I have one with lots of corrosion, but with the eagle etching in good shape. It has been in my tumbler with walnut media for 24 hours. My fingers are crossed! However it comes out, I will hone it and use it. An awesome blade, in my opinion. I got mine free with a lot of 3 other razors....nice seller! I will post pictures when it is finished. The "Pre" pictures are on the Razors forum under the heading "Grand Old Sheffield Wreck".

Jimmy I hear ya, I am amazed that these razors are even still around after 100 or more years and we can still use them. I have already bought a few but they are only in the $20 yo $30 range. My girlfriend has become fascinated with them as well wondering how many people have used them, and who could have used them.
