    Default Jump in prices?

I'm just coming back to SRP after being gone a long time. This place got me into wet shaving and I ended up with two razors. Still shave with my JR Torrey and it's great. The red imp is back at home for now.

Having come back I was nosing around classicshaving because I got an itch to buy a "new" razor. I remembered how I really wanted a TI razor back when I first started, so that was going to be my next buy because I only have vintage so far. After looking at the prices, I was in shock.... the super gnome TIs are now over $150? Besides the recession, was there anything that occured in the last two years that made them hike their prices? They use to be $70 :/.

Also if anyone has a TI they're selling let me know. I just want a no frills TI razor.

Aren't recessions great? I figure by the time it's declared to be over, we won't be able to afford to buy anything.

I don't follow the markets but the dollar has been falling. I guess the foreign currency hasn't been falling as quickly if at all.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

The exchange rates continue getting closer as the Euro falls to levels previously enjoyed by the dollar. I would blame it more on increased fuel costs than anything with inflation being a close second. Everything is getting more expensive as the federal reserve prints money faster than Parker Brothers prints their rainbow colored currency.

Increased fuel costs would affect the cost of mining, shipping ore, smelting, forging, grinding, shipping product, ect.

I have wanted a new TI for a while. I really like the ones with the blonde and dark horn scales combined.

Initially everything from Europe and Asia went up because of the falling dollar but funny how they are quick to jack up the price but when the dollar recovers the price never seems to come back down.

In the end they raise the prices because they can and people still buy. When they stop buying the prices will fall. Fat chance of that eh?

I am told that the recession is the real reason for the jump is traight razor prices. When the economy goes south shavers tend to look for cheaper methods of shaving and double edge and straight razors are precieved as being cheaper methods of shaving. However forum members would probably get a good laugh out of this.

Actually, I spent the better part of a decade with one razor and probably saved hundreds in disposable blades I didn't have to buy. And only one hone and one strop.
