what's the "folklore" regarding notched scales?
saw this and it's not something i've heard of

In group situations, such as the military, or work camps, guys ID-ed their razors somehow to keep them from getting mixed up or fueling an argument as to which was who's ..... the notches are sort of clever. Better than crude initials that would need to be sanded out (if possible) during restoration.
