I Did It Again! Dammit!!!!

Well I did it again. I dinged my razor on the faucet. The only other one that would shave! I'm so pissed I don't know whether to break stuff or cry. My Dovo's still shaving like a brick and now my Streiht (the 6/8 that was shaving pretty good) has a nice big chip in the edge (viewed at 100X). It's a good thing I have beer right now.

Sorry to hear that. Might you consider swishing the blade around in a sink full of water instead of under a running faucet? Some guys use a shave towel of some sorts and sortof strop/draw on a towel to clean the blade. I use a sink full of water and sometimes strop the blade on my palm if it fails to remove all the whiskers.

Repairing the blades isn't that difficult, really.

If this is happening while you are risning during your shave, you should consider shaving with a dry blade. Lay a towel out at the edge of your counter folded over and wipe the blade off on it after each stroke. You will greatly benefit from this in many ways. Your razors will be much happier when they are dry and ding free, and you will see if you are still cutting on your second and third pass if you use them.

That's the way I do it. No dings in the 1+ years I"ve been using a straight.

Yes I'm definately going to use a towel from now on. I guess now that I'm being forced to use my Schick Quatro again will teach me . Doesn't that qualify as cruel and unusual punishment?

That's why it's a good idea to have a few razors in your rotation so if you ding one, you can switch to using the other 2 or 3 that you have. You probably knew that already though

BTW, sorry to hear that. Yeah I use a towel sometimes and that is nice and safe.
