Strange Shaving Dreams
Ladies and gentlemen:
Some obsessions tend to develop tentacles that reach into other parts of our lives. Wet shaving with a straight razor is an apt example. For me, the art is not only a joyous daily grooming activity, but also a loving obsession. So dreaming about shaving is nothing unusual, especially when it is an obsession.
How many times have you dreamed shaving scenes? Some ordinary dreams and some strange.
Not long ago, in a scene in one of my complex dreams, I starred as a barber on the Rue St. Germaine in Paris, shaving a gorgeous French street walker. How do I know it was Rue St. Germaine? I just knew. How did I know she was a French street walker? What, what did you expect, a Siberian? I was in Paris, on Rue St. Germaine, a barber, and shaving a French street walker. That's all I can tell you.
So we were discussing Baudelaire, Villon, Flaubert and a host of other French writers and poets. We were talking about movies, foods, wines, art. I have no idea what we were saying, since half of our conversation didn't make much sense as I continued to shave her.
All right, all right, don't get any ideas: I was shaving her face. Oy, what a massive beard! My razor was a Thiers-Issard 8/8" with a dreadnought point. I had never seen it before, but it was a great shaver.
She was sweet, with a smile as warm as a Monet, and she wore an aftershave called French Leather. I've never heard of French Leather — I wear Truefitt & Hill's and Trumper's Spanish Leather — but that's what she wore: French Leather. We chatted away for hours, as I continued to shave her, and didn't seem to tire.
Then the alarm on my cell phone sounded, 5 a.m., and that shattered my dream. All gone. Poof! What's this? I tried going back to sleep to finish the dream, but it was no use. It was gone.
I am not about to ruin the dream by trying to interpret it. I want to finish it first. Perhaps one of these nights I'll return to it in my sleep and see where it leads.
Ladies and gentlemen, do you have dreams with shaving scenes? Please remember this is a family neighborhood.
Regards,
Obie

Thanked: 4i am very new to straight shaving, but in fact last night had my first ever dream about shaving. Well, it was a dream in which I created the most perfect lather I have ever created (I think because this is where I am struggling with my actual shaving in real life). Haha but yes I too have dreamed about shaving.

the beard might have explained why she was a street walker, but if you want to finish the dream - hey, it's your fantasy

So you want to resume your dream and see how it concludes eh Obie? Well I'll tell you dreams like that will take you right to a mental health professionals couch. You need a break from shaving and this forum.

A Thiers-Issard 8/8" with a dreadnought point, a bottle of French Leather and a French street walker to 'wants list'.

Strange Shaving Dreams
My dear thebigspendur:
I know what you mean with all this shaving stuff. I need to take a day or two off from shaving. I have a couple of other essays in mind about the cuckoo world of straight razor shaving. I'll write them in the coming days, if I get some time.
An unfinished dream is like an unfinished book, or manuscript. You want to see where it goes. I remember in my last year of high school in Chicago I was dreaming one night about Kim Novak. Oh, what a dream. At the time I was living with my aunt. Right at the crucial moment with the stunning Kim, my beloved aunt woke me up to get ready for school.
What? Oh, what pain. I'll never forget it. That specific dream, I'm afraid, I never did finish. Perhaps I will my shaving dream with the French street walker.
Here's to fascinating dreams.
Regards,
Obie

catch
I'm pretty sure that when they take someone in to get their screws tightened, they don't let them use straight razors. I've noted in the past that it's tough to shave in a straight jacket anyway.
Don't get hung up on hanging hairs.

Haven't had one yet
Obie,
I've not had a strange shaving dream yet, but with the interesting seeds this thread has planted in my fertile brain I sense one coming on. I just hope that mine involves Kim Novak and not some bearded French chic. Maybe the lovely Ms. Novak could be shaving me and... wait, this is a family thread...

I don't recall a single shaving dream but I have had odd SRP dreams. Here is one I posted a couple of years ago:
