    Default 2000!

I've just noticed that I've hit the 2000 posts count. Man, that came around quick..! Hehe!

I've still got a way to go before I'm anywhere near Jimmy, but I'm looking forward to the challenge.

After 2000 posts, what have I learnt?

    - Pressure is everything. Too much on your face, the hone or the strop and you'll get a bad result.

    - Never underestimate the importance of good lather.

    - Buy decent kit that will last, rather than cheap stuff that wont. Get the best razor, strop, brush and soap you can afford, look after them and learn how to use them. Your face will thank you for it.

    - You dont need loads of expensive hones to get a good edge, but it is fun trying them all out!

    - That new razor you just bought really is shave ready, its just unfamiliar and you dont know how to get the best from it yet, which is why your mach 3 seems better.

    - The HHT, TPT and TNT are not the best way to evaluate the shave readiness of a new razor. The shave test is. If it shaves good, it is good.

    - This is one of those hobbies that, when you start, its easy to think "Its shaving, how hard could it be?" and see everything in black and white. The more involved you get, and especially if you start down the honing and restoration route, the more you'll see the myriad shades of grey out there.

    - Stay away from eBay until you know what you're looking for. Really.

    - Embrace your AD's. We're not mad, we're passionate!

    - SRP is, without a doubt and by a country mile, the BEST site on the net. Bar none. Its an ongoing pleasure and delight to talk with you all, and I consider myself very fortunate to have found this place and to have met you all. You guys are awesome!

Anyway, enough of my ramblings. I'd better get back to posting sensible stuff, that post counters not going to get to 3000 on its own y'know!

    All the best,

    Stu
