did i get gouged a bit? should I leave neg feedback?

I had a bunch of razors end Sunday night. I listed each with Priority Mail shipping, insurance required. All were 1 pound or less and most closed for less than $50. The shipping for each came out to $5.40 on the Post Office website. (all were shipped Priority too <g>)

For a quick idea of fees involved:
I listed it at $14.99 starting bid, my listing fee was $ .60, my gallery fee was $ .35, final value fee when it closed at $25.38 was $1.32 and paypal took $1.19. It does cost a bit to use ebay for sure.

Then again, if anyone has ever used an actual auction house, the auctioneer's fees are exhorbitant...

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the excess shipping was also an attempt to pass the fees along to the buyer. Which is also common in 'real' auctions.

Oh, well... As we've said time and time again, it means you need to read the listing carefully. I don't think $5.25 is bad at all, though. In fact, that's pretty cheap.

I think its fair. I have seen much higher. I always consider shipping when I figure out how much I want to spend.:)

got the razor today, they shipped it via 1rst class, they spent a while 89 cents shipping it.

Well, you could ask them to refund the difference or just chalk it up to experience and let it go.

I would not let it bother you. There are many reasons why the person may have ran the ad in the fashion that it was... They may have been trying to save you money!

For instance, I ran a eBay business for a few years. By moving some of the cost to shipping it reduced my eBay fees. I passed the savings onto my customers. In addition, I let them know of the higher shipping in several places in the ad.

In addition, at the time I shipped world wide. It was very hard figuring the shipping cost to each place. As a result, I averaged the shipping cost.

Furthermore, one must take into consideration the huge eBay and Paypal fees, packaging cost, and lost profits from flaky customers, lost packages, etc.

Long story short, I think you probably got a good deal. Be patient with eBay sellers, it is hard to run a business, make a profit, and make the majority happy...

i have never seen an ad without some kind of indication of the shipping cost or mention of how to determine it. What was the item number?

If your post was in reply to my previous post, I always disclosed the shipping cost, and multiple times in my ads. If you post was in response to someone else then this reponse is not applicable... :)

I was referring to the original post. I just wanted to try and help out in case a newbie ebayer was missing something.
