Sounds great. Any razor honed by Lynn would be great. I have heard of his extraordinary honing abilities.
Impatiently awaiting the "STICKY."

I havent had a Lynn honed razor touch my mug yet but i can no longer put my hat in this straight raffle in good faith, ive been too lucky at my local fleamarkets! If there is a seperate raffle for a strop or a hone id enter that though, that's an aspect im still trying to get down and aquiring the right tools.
Thanks Bill!:)
I will let you know who the lucky winner is.

Considering the relationship b/w my equipment and the contents of the piņata, I'd use a bo stick and an extra-wide baseball glove :D
Heres the list I have compiled so far. If your not on this list and want to be then post a message here or wait for the sticky.

Bill ellis has a razor to give away
Tony Miller has 6 strops to give away
Randy Tuttle has a razor to give away
Good luck to all the entrants. I would love to participate, but Lynn has honed a razor for me...damn that puppy's sharp! Honestly, I would participate here even if I didn't use a straight. The gentlemen here are first class, and I'm proud to know them all, even if it is only online!
Randy
could you add me to the list as a proxy for a few friends of mine who are on the fence about trying. if all goes well they will have a good razor and if not I will re-submitt to another on the list.
good luck
Jon in Cambridge, Ontario
Id love to take part in this and i hope i dont miss it, to be included in this would be awesome especially when the prizes come from the great guys who make this site my homepage, and who despite Im sure endless daft questions from me, give great answers.
cheers guys, simon
before i get carried away could you pop my name up there? please?
I'm actually going to be hitting the garage sales this spring/summer to see if I can get some that I can turn into shavers for a couple of my buddies. One of them actually lives close to you (KW). This way at least I'd get a better idea what to strive for, for them and for myself.Quote:

Welcome to the forum, Ben. You've made a wise choice tossing your hat into the ring.

I too have been using a Shavette type for almost a week. I am getting there. No blood loss....and not as scared as I was :)
Please count me in.
Regards
Brian
A friend of mine has has gone on many times on the wonders of shaving with a straight razor. I'm convinced it's worth a try... but not quite enough yet to spend the $ getting set up. But he's got me here, and I'd love to put my name in to the contest. It's very generous of you guys!!! I take it we are just waiting for the registration sticky to appear?
And it's about time you show up, too :D Here's to hoping you find you like it.Quote:

Where are the rest of the new guys?
This giveaway is really generous. I would love an oppurtunity to try out a razor honed by Lynn or other honemeisters. Is this the official list thread now? I understood that there would be a seperate sticky thread.
If this is it, then please add me as well.
Thanks.
Hi!
I've been looking at trying out straight shaving (been using a DE) for a bit, and Obsessis told me about these forums. Looks like I joined at a perfect time!
I agree with other posts on here -- it's amazing that an online community does this kind of thing. I truly think the shaving communities are the best on the net.
Randy,
Add me pleeeaase if not already.
Thanks
Gary
Do we register here or somewhere else?
Please consider me in!
Hi all, first off I can't believe I found an entire forum devoted to straight razor shaves... secondly, I can't believe you guys are actually giving away razors! Please sign me up! I currently am razorless!
I got my first (and only) str8 about 20 years ago. It was used and in pretty bad shape. It needed TLC badly, but I had nobody to teach me how to do it and managed to beat the heck out of my poor razor trying to learn what stropping and honing was all about. After getting it at least moderately sharp enough to shave and nearly removing interesting facial features (you know, noses, lips, chins, etc) about a dozen times I gave up until I could find some knowledge. Coincidentally, I've just recently decided to see if I could get back into it now that I'm older and calmer. I've been a brush and mug man since the aborted straight razor attempts, if that helps any heh.
Meanwhile, I just intend on lurking here for a bit and soaking up all the help files and knowledge I can before taking half my face off in one fell swoop heh. I'll try not to ask too many stupid questions until I manage to read everything here.
By the way, anyone else homebrew here? I may not know enough about str8 razor shaving yet but I guarantee my beer will make you forget I just asked one too many stupid questions!

Randy,
Please include my name in the giveaway list.
Thanks,
Mark.
Please post in the sticky from now on. I have all the names from this thread.:)
How come I'm not seeing any sticky?

I am talking about that sticky. I can't see it at all. Maybe it's my screen size. 13"Quote:

Well I see it says "Sticky" beside the title as do a few threads. Is that all we're talking about? I thought a sticky would work more like the Mac Sticky, as a seperate floater.

Yes it is.Quote:

Hi Guys, Richard Martino has donated a few more razors including a Puma 4/8 and it is way nice. We also have an old, big, Bartmann, a Wade & Butcher and a few other very nice shavers. This is just a super event. Thanks Guys.
Your one helluva guy Richard. Not only yourself, but
Lynn, Randy, Bill, Tony and anyone else helping
pull this drawing off by donating razors, strops
and time, be it honing or keeping track of all
the guys in the drawing.
Give yourselves a collective pat on the back
for your generosity.
Regards,
Terry
I'll second that. By the way, have you guys noticed that there are fewer people signing up for strops than for razors? Maybe we should look into educating the n00bs so they know the importance of stropping/honing.
yeah i noticed that.Quote:

Please sign me up (if I'm not already on it somewhere). Just getting back into str8 shaving after many yrs using Merkur dbl edge slant bar around edges of full beard. Cut down to a mustache & goatee, & the str8 fits the face again. Thanks.
As I have recently bought a shave ready from Bill.....please include me for the strop draw, and remove me from the razor draw
