Default i just had to worse shave of my life! - on purpose!

so i decided to really experiment and go back to the minimum.. i stopped by the 99 cent store and picked up some no name blades which seem to be u.s. made personnas.. loaded that in the merkur and used the most basic cream i have in my arsenal.. (kiss my face) i went ahead and did the hot shower for prep and upon getting out.. i slapped the cream on with my hand.. still very slick.. but no where near as luxurious as i could have got with a brush.. i did a single wtg pass and was really unsatisfied.. so i slathered on some more cream and did one of those feel and go shaves.. i'd massage in the cream on a certain spot and get a feel for the direction of the hair and go atg.. did that a few times actually and then rinsed with cold water.. i was covered with razor burn and weepers.. instead of the alum block.. i rubbed an ice cube and splashed some witch hazel.. burned like molten lava..

that being my experiment i decided to never do that again.. like they say.. "you don't know what you have till it's not there anymore" i learned my lesson and now i will appreciate my shave arsenal that much more.. i really don't want to blame the blade as i feel that i could have done a better job had i been more familiar with it.. i am purely used to feathers and the u.s. made personna was a huge difference.. so it could have been a better shave with some practice.. but i will never stray from my beloved wee scot again.. i love that little jock!

since my experiment is over.. my face will be in recovery for the next few days.. i applied a heavy coat of aloe vera and after it had fully absorbed.. i slathered on some pure coconut oil lotion from fiji.. the face feels as if it's healing nicely and it was worth the experiment.. i'm faceburbating like crazy and i will say.. it's dfs.. but it came at a price.. i'll be applying moisturizer all nite.. i'm on my third coat of the coconut lotion.. and can't wait to have a few days growth so i can get out the d.r. harris and the artist club and do it up proper with hot towels, preshave, perfect lather, alum block, witch hazel, nivea replenishing, and clubman bay rum.. i can anticipate it being my most enjoyable shave yet. .a definite kiss to be remembered..

anyway.. cheers mates and be sure to tell your shave gear you love them before you go to bed.

Exactly. So why do you think men have hated shaving through the years?

I used to hate shaving, now I dont. I used to get razor burn and ingrown hairs, now I dont.

I laugh at people who tell me I'm crazy for using a straight razor, because I (and we all here) are living proof thats its just BETTER!

i promised myself i would allow 4 days growth.. both so my skin heals completely.. but also so i thoroughly enjoy the shave.. i'll be using my artist club with a new blade.. i'm not sure on the soap or cream though.. i have d.r. harris almond soap.. i think that's the top of my line.. i'm really looking forward to it..

also.. i still plan on exploring a slimlined minimal ingredient shave.. just not with a blade i am so unfamiliar with.
