He pointed out honest flaws (in his opinion) or areas that needed further improvement. Amy responded in kind and in this day and age taking your lumps and saying "Hey, thanks for the constructive criticism and while I was hoping for better I'll take what I get" is rare enough to deserve an honest bit of praise whether you are a pointer or a setter.
