Thread: Clarification - Kamisori Razors

Hello everyone-

I represent Kamisori International and I’m here because I would like an opportunity to clarify some negativity about our straight razors and I figured what better place to do this than here, especially because Kamisori has been brought up here many times. It seems like there have been false assumptions that have really escalated regarding our straight razors being made in Pakistan. This is not true. Kamisori is dedicated to bringing the very best implements at the lowest prices and Kamisori does not and never has had a Pakistani company make its straight razors. Our old razors were produced by a well-known Korean company and the razors where made with Japanese 440C steel, the quality wasn’t as good as German or French razors but it was definitely better then Pakistani razors, it other words, you could actually get a few good shaves with them for $20-30 selling price. I believe that because our old Korean razors were made from Japanese stainless steel many people assumed it was Pakistani razors because I noticed that Pakistani razors state that they use Japanese stainless steel. We have stopped making our razors in Korea; recently, because of the growing demand for high quality straight razors, we have established a partnership with an industry respected straight razor manufacturer in Solingen, Germany. With our design and their technology we have produced a fine lineup of high quality German made Kamisori razors.

With that being said, this place is an awesome place for a straight razor fan. Thank you for clarifying your companies position. I am glad to see a new (or new to us anyway) manufacturer taking quality razors seriously. We need a few good resources and am sure if you have paired up with a German company to produce your items they will be worth a serious look.

I guess this sort of proves what they say about assumptions. I too look forward to hearing how your razors shave. Thank you for the clarification.

Now all you have to do is work past the negative history of the razors you sold before. Not an easy task, but I believe that your offer of test razors is an excellent starting point.

Also some of the people who sold your previous product are held in less than stellar regard. That's not your fault, but it is a factor in improving your business.

As has been already said, new, quality razors will be welcome.

Instead of giving 3 members a razoreach, set it up this way.
Send them to someone who is a good honer. Then let the
members get on a mailing list. This could be set up like
Bill's traveling razor, but instead of 1 razor there would be
3 making the circuit. Maxium exposure, and really quick.

I hope that by making this suggestion that I'm not stepping
on a honemeistures toes and it will be too complicated, tell
to to shut my trap and I will. And I won't take offense.

I actually like your idea Terry. Now we just gotta see which TRUE honemeister volunteers.

Since there aren't many german company's making razors I assume Dovo is making them. If thats the case it will be interesting to see if they pass muster.

I like Terry's idea as well. They do look like Dovo contract razors and similar to the Timors and Fromms I used to sell. I was happy with the performance of each once sharpened. I only dropped them because I went to a razor a little higher up the Dovo line to reduce my honing time on them. If truely a Dovo made items I am sure they would be great.

Maybe one of our honemeister will take up on this. Being a dealer of other razors I won't offer but am curious as to the out come.

I appreciate Amy's openness and willingness to work with the group. This is a really great offer. I also agree with Terry about sending these off to one of the honemeisters and then sending them around to folks. A lot more people would be able to evaluate the product as a shaver, plus the feedback from the honemeisters on their initial edge and how they hone up compared to other manufacturers.
