Clarification - Kamisori Razors

You see, I was looking up SRP through Google, because my bookmark wasn't working properly. Through no fault of my own, I found a link to kamisorishears.com and decided to check it out. I found their straight razors, apparently some of the best available, with a smooth shave guarenteed no less. I wrote to the "contact us" and asked about the quality of the shaves, and whether or not a brand new razor would need anything other than a quick trip to a leather strop before that first shave. I specified I was looking for a very smooth shave.

I will say, they got back to me via email, within about an hour. I also have to say, the response seems to indicate that our resident honemeisters have either been lying to us, or sadly lacking in their skills.

I forget who all got the razors, I think Lynn, Randy, and Bill. I can tell you for a fact that if Lynn cant hone a razor then it just simply cannot be honed, period.

As far as shave ready razors, the only shave ready razors are those who have been expertly honed by a honemeister prior to use. Most factory sharpened razors are not shave ready..

I think there was a certain sense of sarcasm to Matt's post that may have been overlooked.

I picked up on the humor right away. Thought it was cool...

forgive me...besides being gullable, I have pneumonia and am so drugged up I probably couldnt even find the sarcasm if I re-read it...and right now things are so blury, Im not going to even try.

Bill, being one of the best honers around you would have to pick up on it pretty quickly.

I bet Lynn lost lots of sleep over it as well...

Resident Honemeister.......hmmmmm............. Qualified...........hmmmmmmm......... Oh yeah, I gots a ridin' lawnmover............Couldn't sleep at all last night!!!! NOT!!!! I figured that with well over 6,000 straight razors honed, that I might have a few tricks for this razor. Simple stropping however, was not the answer. I'd a had a better chance stropping on one of my boys butts, but at this point in life, they all would have beat mine. I am having a lot more fun having scales made by our master craftsman and having them put on some of my very favorite and best shavers. I don't think this brand will be one of them for a while.

I this point I would like to thank everyone for their contributions to this thread and especially the three gentlemen - Bill, Randy and Lynn. Your time and effort is much appreciated and I especially thank you for being honest and fair in your evaluations, you are true honemeisters;) . I will take their feedbacks and make good productivity out of them. We are dedicated to the quality of our straight razors and we have already begun plans on fixing some mishaps, new razors are already in production. We are also upgrading the case; they will soon come in a nice wooden box. Strops will also improve. To show my gratitude to this group, I will be back in the near future to give away some free razors. This thread is not something we will just ignore and forget, it will be helpful to us and this is something that I don’t regret doing, I am happy with the outcome. Again thank you everyone for this opportunity, its much appreciated:)

I will be looking forward to seeing your new razors. Nice to see commitment to making a better product by taking honest evaluations and using them constructively Amy. Sort of rare these days.

It's been exceptionally nice to have a vendor offer up free products for evaluation, listen to criticism of the product and begin to implement improvements to their product based on feedback. It's a rare thing you're doing. I am looking forward to seeing the new & improved product in the future.

One other thing I'd also like to point out is that although no one gave these razors an A+, also no one called them junk, i. e., on the order of the Zeepk junk on eboy. your product may not be of the quality we would like to own ourselves, it's much better than a lot of product that is sold as "shave ready".

I am very appreciative of your attitude, Amy. Many vendors would lash out at the testers as biased just because they didn't write glowing reports. Your williingness to take the criticism in a contructive manner, and continue to work to improve your product is admirable. I'm hoping that in the near future, we'll be able to test some of your new razors, and hopefully give your products a much higher rating.
