I've been shaving the wife's legs every Sunday for about nine months. She likes the spa-like treatment, I and like her legs...so we both win. The discussion had never been about converting to a method of shaving or anything like that, it was just good time together.

A couple weeks ago, I grabbed my new Boker for the shave of the week and she stopped me cold and said, 'put that away, I like those wedge razors better' Not a problem...closed up the Boker and grabbed the Frederick Reynolds.

Last Sunday we missed our shave together because my new job has left me absolutely exhausted and I was asleep by shave time anyway. So last Tuesday, I came dragging into the house and she announces that she wants me to look at my bathroom because she had made some changes. Great, not the kind of conversation you want to have right when you walk through the door. When I announced that I didn't notice anything out of place, she says that she used 'that dual edge razor' to shave with! Bear in mind that I rarely use DE's, the blade was old and the Fatboy was set to 7! I asked her how her shave was and she announced that it was good. Big smiles here...

Today was shave day and she was in the shower. When she got out I asked her if she wanted the usual straight shave or did she want to try the DE with a fresh blade to which she states, 'let me try both' I pulled out my '65 Slim and a 4/8 wedge and I carefully guided her on some simple rules and you know what...she shaved her legs up and announced that she likes the straight razor better than the DE right after her first shave. I asked if this was something she was comfortable doing this on her own and I got a mediocre 'maybe'...

I am soooo pumped about this, but I want to temper it a little so she doesn't feel like I'm pushing straight or even DE shaving on her. This is where the lady's opinion comes into play. Am I on track here by backing off the issue or should I pursue it further. Part of me wants to go out and get some some of her own kit...especially a brush since I'm not too keen on using a brush that's been underarm on my face. I've backed off since I don't want to give the impression that I don't like our Sunday shaves together, but the reality is that if there comes a time when she has to do it herself it turns into a hack job and it turns her off forever.
