Thanked: 4942Night Shaving
I was testing some razors I honed last night around 7 PM and was
amazed to get up this morning without the usual stubble on my face.
Tis interesting that when I shave with the straight razor, it just
seems that the whiskers do not grow back as fast. I can remember using
other manufactured blades in the past and shaving in the evening only
to wake up and feel alot more beard than this. Gotta love it. Guess
it's all about the baby butt.....lol. Thoughts? Lynn

I reserve four-pass shaves with the DE for evenings. I get to enjoy the shave, and I wake up with a smooth face. It's great. Also note that I thought, given the subject of this thread, that you might be hinting at a new late-night Cinemax feature.

I find that when I shave with a blade that isn't as sharp as it could/should be (doesn't matter whether it's a str8, DE, or M3) I get that "stubble" feeling in a matter of hours after shaving (even though the shave felt pretty close when I finished shaving). Morning/night doesn't matter, although my activity level, temperature, etc. do. I've always wondered if the reason is that the extra "tug" which occurs to the hair due to a dull blade somehow disturbs/stimulates the hair follicle root area... resulting in faster hair growth. Then again, maybe I'm just over complicating this and it's really the obvious... a sharp blade gives a closer shave!!

When I'm working, I always shave at night and in the morning, look like someone who just got shaved. Since my 5 o'clock shadow isn't really a shadow (I'm fairly light-haired), I'm ok for the work day and if I have to go out at night, my face is fresh and well-rested for another pass or two.

I've found the same thing. When I'm on a busy schedule I'll often shave late at night (9 to 10 p.m.) so that I'm not hurried for the shave and I have one less thing to do in the a.m.

Yes!
I'm always shaving late at night. (At like, eleven, twelve or even one in the morning!) I find I enjoy the whole "shaving experience" a lot more.
I don't know about you guys, but in the morning, I'm pretty much a zombie. I'm groggy and in a rush. This doesn't make for the best end result. I don't cut myself or anything, but sometimes I'll rush the lather or rush stropping. And when you've got to head out into the cold weather in the winter time, your face feels really raw.
But at night, you can take your sweet time. Sometimes I'll even "drink and shave." Nothing big -- I'll sip a pint of Guiness, maybe, between passes.

Thanked: 4I can normally remain stubble free for 18-20 hours following a good str8 shave, so shaving at night is a real boon when I'm on the road. One less thing to do before heading to site, and it's a nice relaxing end to the day.
