I'm crazy and I llove W&B!

I just won 2 auctions with W&B razors. Even though the one in the 3-item listing: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1 is exactly what I wanted (even if it takes a good deal of work to restore), the price on the other listing was too irresistable for me to pass up on: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Nenad, X and Vlad already gave me their expert opinions on the batch of 3, but comments from the rest of you gentlemen are most welcome.

I really can't afford any of these, and I may be re-selling the Boker (probably display only) and the Walker, but the W&Bs had my brain fuddled. This time, I promise that these are my last razor acquisitions for at least 3 years. (this is the cue for Nenad to start laughing)

P.S. I did tell the seller that the box said Cutlery Solingen and that it did not come with the razor. I also advised her to include the blade width in future razor auctions.

Thank you gentlemen. The frown on the second W&B worries me a bit, but I'm hoping that the rough hone will take care of the worst of it before I take her to the 4k Jap. The nicks on the first one should not be a problem. therefore, my biggest worry will be finding the right rotary tool attachments. On a good note I have a flex-shaft and the tool itself has a fine adjustment wheel, which can make it go EXTREMELY slow, so I don't have to worry about overheating the edges. Then I can worry about disinfecting and honing. I'm also hoping that the coticule will arrive before the razors do lol.

It sounded in the post that you plan to restore then disinfect the razors.

If you do it in that order and get cut while restoring it then you'll have to worry about getting tetanus shots. :D

I always prefer to disinfect before doing anything else to the stray blades from e-bay. Never know where they have been.

So far, I've had good experiences with the following approach:
1) Give it a good inside out cleaning with an antibacterial soap.
2) Polish
3) Real disinfection, Nenad-style
4) Honing

I never got cut while polishing, and since i'm planning on using the dremmel this time, the likelihood is even smaller. By the way Vlad, what do you think of that single W&B acquisition? By exposing your expertise, you also exposed yourself to a whole slew of W&B related questions :D

Those are some nice razors that should clean up real nice. That middle one of the 3 has seen the hone quite a bit, but I'll bet it's still a good shaver. At least somebody thought so.

It's the one I'm least interested in. The top one will receive new scales made by Nenad. The bottom one just a good cleaning/honing. I will probably clean the middle one, take some decent pics and put it up on e-bay. If I wanted to hone it properly, I'd probably have to reduce it to about 4/8 on the rough hone, then polish it and finally recreate the edge. Too much trouble when there are many underrated good shavers available. The Boker name is more valuable to a collector.
