Let's see if we can't make this one of the longest running threads ever. Everybody can play!

I think most of us have heard some piece of SR advice and thought "Yeah, I should do that.", but then one day someone says something in just such a way that we could finally really hear it. And it gets deep down in us in a way that transforms whatever aspect of SR shaving we're looking for advice on.

Example: In the couple of months I've been here, I've heard dozens of variations on the theme that technique is crucial, blade quality and all the other accoutrement are secondary.

So, while I would think "Yeah. I should concentrate on my technique.", I'd keep plugging along, hacking my way through shaves, and looking forward to checking out the latest blades from our vendors here.

Then this gets posted:

"The weird thing about really epic bad technique is that you will cut everything on your face except hair."

This changed my life. From the moment I read this it hit home in a way that has had me slowing down and really LOOKING at exactly what I'm doing with that razor I've got up against my face.

So, here it is, folks: Your chance to share what's really driven a point home for you, and maybe get a chance to thank the ones who've helped you become a better shaver and therefore altered your life for the better. And since, for me, this place isn't so much about the straight shaving as it is about the really great people I've met here, I think an effort to attribute, if possible, whatever quote you offer would be entirely appropriate.

(and if it wasn't obvious, above... Lawson, thank you.)

Best to all,
