In the 2010 Film 'The Debt'
The Nazi war criminal being given a fairly authentic straight shave by the female MOSSAD agent
There is a scene in War Horse where the German camp is attacked in the morning.
Several Germans are in a tent all shaving with straights as the cavalry attacks.
White men can't jump... towards the beginning of the Movie the is a scene where Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson have just hustle a guy in a basket ball game, he doesn't take to kingly to this and starts waving a straight around.
Can't believe nobody mentioned WC Fields in "The Barbershop". His technique is horrible, and makes me wince every time I've seen it. Didn't know Str8s were so handy for removing moles...funny as all get out.
It may be a bit artsy but there's a couple of scenes in Pan's Labyrinth where the father shaves with a straight.
John Wayne in Rio Bravo, one of my very favorite of his films (along with In Harm's Way). He's shaving with a straight when Angie Dickinson walks into the room. Or maybe she's shaving him--it's been a long time since I've seen it. Either way, I don't think I'd be able to concentrate on the shave with her there!;)
Doesn't Angie Dickinson shave Dean Martin in this film. She offers to shave "The Duke" but he replies that he does his own shaving.
You're probably right. As I mentioned, it's been quite a while since I last saw it. I have this mental image of JW standing and shaving with a str8 using a wall-mounted mirror. Perhaps I'm combining the shave from In Harm's Way with the one from Rio Bravo. Stranger things have happened with my memory, believe me!
What??? No one has mentioned the Three Stooges? And how about the barbar shop scene in The Untouchables? (Do I have the right movie, when the barber is shaving Capone's neck?)
Just got back from midnight avengers, there is a straight clip in that one.
Yeah, I noticed that, but the technique is totally wrong, the razor was at 90° to the face lol
Spotted one in the 1990 film 'Misery' - the character played by Kathy Bates shaves the James Caan character with a huge square-point straight. Very high angle on the first stroke but much better from then on.
Only get this, she then totally blots her copybook by giving him an electric razor! Duh!
Just saw the trailer for the new James Bond movie, "Skyfall" and it shows a scene of a girl shaving Bond with a straight.
Charlie Chaplin in the Great Dictator.
Hungarian Dance No. 5 from "The Great Dictator" Charlie Chaplin - YouTube
I just noticed a scene in Robin Hood. Mark Strong (Godfrey) is dry shaving with a knife.
Using the 90 degree movie technique. Fail!
On the first few minutes of the pilot of How I met your mother - barnie answers his cell phone while getting a straight shave from a barber who'd do better plastering drywalls or something - 90 degrees with no stretching and wimpy lather...

My first big impression of using a straight razor...Sweeny Todd-The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, with Johnny Depp. saw it years ago but just deciding to pick it up now. Iguess it really planted a seed.
Most recently however, the main character in Boardwalk Empire (HBOs period drama set in 1920's Atlantic City) was shown shaving, however he was holding it with the blade totally perpendicular to his face!!!
And yes as stated above i saw the scene in "Skyfall" as well. Sweet maybe when all the guys see that Bond uses one, more people will jump on board. I mean comon, whos cooler than Bond, and he does it.
Tony Curtis in 'The Great Race". Nice scene with Natalie Wood.

Yup, James bond indeed shaves with a straight in Skyfall, and he has a brush and cream in a bowl! Saw it last night and nearly jumped out of my seat when I saw that scene, always knew bond was a straight/DE kind of guy haha.
I was amused to notice that not only was it a straight, but it was pretty much the straight-razor equivalent of a Walther. 5/8, quarter hollow, German.
The film was co-written by Robert Wade, too. (Really!)
Haha I wonder what it really was. I'm expecting that its an English razor but who knows.
:( bummer! I guess it makes sense though haha. Still, loved the movie chiefly for the fact that he went old school for most of it: straight razor, '69 Aston Martin, dynamite, sawed off shotgun, and hunting rifle.
Saw the James Bond movie on Friday, Skyfall! Very good movie, with a very sexy straight razor scene. Enjoyed it! Double O
Finally some one said somethin bout sweeny todd but the original from the late 40s has better technique lol and my big scene that i rember haveing a straight razor is from the patriot where the brits are shaveing by a stream when heath ledger rides in seaking revenge
Did you guys see this ? Saw the movie today, and I had a feeling that it would have this sort of effect :D
James Bond
A scene in Mississippi Burning where Gene Hackman interrogates Brad Dourif taking the place of the barber and gives him a straight razor shave
