Nice looking W&B. Not my speed though, I definitely prefer their notched choppers.

Peter, the way to do it is to set a snipe bid and forget about it. Your bids are way too high. You are working against yourself. Your high bids cause others to think that they must bid higher.

You may want to lay off for a week or two and start again when the prices cool off. I have seen these cycles before. 8/8 Frioudurs went for $150, then a month later I missed one that went for $36. Since then I have the snipe software to keep me on schedule.

The same I thing will happen with the W&B's. They won't drop to $20 but will probably settle back to the $60-$80 range when you stop shopping for one.

For the last 3 months stats:
W&B Average sale price $31, max $280 (mine),
month before: average $22, max $150,
month before that: average $21, max $78.

For last 3 months there were 80-90 W&B razors listed a month. At least 10 are 7/8 or larger. Prices have gone as low as $60 for 7/8 or 8/8.

    Patience will pay off.

I know I am going to get shot down in flames for this but here goes.

The prices for W&B are being artificially inflated because this group is advocating there use and value. I am not saying that they are not the best thing since sliced bread, but they are just another antique razor which there are thousands.

Currently there price is high because every one is buying, but there real value is much lower, so you have to ask your self do you want it because it will be a great shave, because it is a collectors item or because everyone else has one.

If you want it because it is a great shave, just wait there will be another along in a few days, don't tell every one what you are bidding.

If you want it because it is a collectors item, again wait another one will be along soon.

If you want it because every one else has one, stop place bids on some obscure make, get a load at rock bottom prices and then tell every one they are the best thing since sliced bread and then sell you collection at top price on ebay.

    Start shooting.

Peter I think Vlad is right. I passed bidding on this nice Dorko because I thought it would go too high and it went for a reasonable price. It does go round in circles so wait a bit and see what happens.

Trends, fads, cycles, group hysteria, call it what you will. Its been going on for some time. The Wonderedge is finally going down in price, the Filarmonica's are losing their lustre, the big razors are now more plentiful than ever and the price has come down. NOS razors were rare but are now plentiful and do not command the price they once did.

On any given day there are more than 750 straight razors available on Ebay and the number has increased a lot in the last 2-3 years. There is no reason to pay a lot of money for a W&B. About one week ago I picked up a 7/8 notched "For Barbers Use" W&B for $18. Last year I passed on one that was 8/8 or better because I was unwilling to pay $40.

Guys, don't be in such a hurry to buy razors. Go hunt for them at places other than Ebay. They are all over the place. Be patient and above all CHEAP!
