Hello All,
I've been straight shaving for just over a month now and so i'm just beginning to realize what part of my shave ritual I enjoy most. In my case it's making the lather. I just love whirling that brush around in that bowl. splashing cool water on my face is a close second.
I'm just wondering what part of their shaves other members enjoy most?

Applying the bay rum afterwards.
The smell is great, and the skin feels smooth and tight.

I have to say, I just literally had my 10th shave 10 minutes ago, and today everything went well. Few laps on the barber hone before, felt/leather strop, hot shower, lathering, 2 WTG + 1 ATG passes, some aftershave afterwards.
My favorite thing would probably have to be when everything comes together into that magical experience and after you're done you can sit back and admire and say "Now THAT was a good shave!"

I don't compare the various parts of my shaving ritual. I enjoy the whole ritual and embrace each part for what it is.

Well said, and what I think also. But I must say I really enjoy shaving ATG with a Straight razor and get a perfect BBS without any nicks or blood. When I first tried shaving with a Straight, I never ever thought I would manage a ATG pass!Quote:

My favorite part is applying the styptic pencil! I just had to say that.:) I agree with Obie, the whole ritual is my favorite part.
I love feeling a cool breeze on a smooth face! ...and stropping :)
The whole experience from start to finish. And definately the results and feeling of accomplishment after :)
For me, the very best part is that first stroke of a newly honed razor when I find out just how well the honing went. When I get that buttery smoooooth feeling and I know I did a good job honing I feel very gratified. Sometimes I have to grin so wide that I need to stop for a moment and just savor the feeling.

Although I enjoy the entire process, I guess for me the most gratifying moment comes when I towel off my cheeks and neck for that last time and look in the mirror, revealing my freshly shaved face. Shaving perfection!

I am with Obie here; the entire shave is a source of much pleasure to me :)
The daily shave is one of the few dependable high points of the working day; particularly when it's been a really crappy one at work :)

I agree. It's the whole process from planning which razor to buy, honing, stropping, the feeling of sharp steel against my throat, shaving, the BBS and looking darn good at work. :DQuote:
