...good friend...very trusting...and I was surprised that it is actualy easier to shave someone other than yourself, easier to see what you are doing and you always get the perfect stretch, not to mention you can use your dominant hand for the entire face.

None, unless you charged him.Quote:

I spoke with Mr. Ed Jeffers when I visited his museum last. He is a practicing barber, head of the ohio barbershop liscencing board, curator of his own museum of historical barbering items, and an all round great guy. He said he personally delivered the message to all Ohio barber shops that they were to cease the sale of "traditional straight razor shaves" at some point during the mid 80's, when the truth about the transmission of HIV/AIDS became known. My understanding is that while some states may have passed laws, other states/cities or counties simply volunteered to stop the services due to the risk of infection.
Locally, I know a barber who will give a straight razor shave with a traditional straight. It's actually where I picked up my first hone, plus a good stropping/honing demonstration.
that is a shame, though, given how difficult it would be to contract HIV from a SR shave. i guess it's better to be safe than sorry, though, and it's not as if we don't get great shaves on our own.

I just got back from a haircut at the barber. I never paid much attention before, but it looked (out of the cornere of my eye) like my barber was using a red imp wedge to do the trimming. He was very busy so I didn't bother him, so I may be mistaken.
Between the Pinaud Clubman I used this morning plus the splash of same he put on my neck and sideburns I'm pretty aromatic right now...
