Default Barber shop straight shaves illegal?

I don't know where I heard this or maybe even read it, but is it against the law to get a shave in a barber shop with a straight razor? I just about never see a person getting a shave now in a barber shop and I have been to a few. I used to get a hair cut from a barber that would straight shave your side burns a bit and neck but also never saw him give a face shave (unfortunately he passed away not to long ago ) and he was cheap too, like $9.

Anyway maybe someone can clear this up for me because I have been curious.

in some states its illegal, in some states like pennsylvania for instance they need to be licensed and for sanitary reasons can only use disposable blades. In others no one seems to monitor it.

In Oklahoma you have to be a licensed barber to do shaves. Everyone has to use disposable stuff. I know one shop that uses nasty blude-handled non-pivoting head disposables & canned foam. I know one other that uses a shavette, hot towels and a Campbell lather king. I don't know what the regs would be if a customer brought their own razor.

I think they would be afraid to use it. My barber wants me to bring in one of my razors to show him how to shave...he is an expert with the disposibles but I dont think he has ever touched a real straight.

    Default ok in New Mexico

My barber here in Albquerque gives straight razor shaves with a good old fashioned straight razor. I'm pretty sure you have to be a licensed barber to do this. But hey, this is New Mexico where anyone is allowed to carry a loaded firearm in plane view without a license.

I hope you mean "plain view" otherwise you're a suspected terrorist.

    Default plane view

Touche. Although "plane view" reminds me on Archie Bunker's solution to eliminate terrorism in the air. He suggested arming all passengers.
