Traveling Carry On luggage

I searched the site and while there were quite a few threads they all seemed to be years old and possibly out of date.

I'm extremely new to wet shaving. I just have a parker srw with disposable blades (getting a straight soon) but even with the parker I can tell a huge difference in skin irritation and quite frankly pleasure in shaving. So I really don't want to have to switch to a cartridge for travel.

I don't often check bags, most of my trips are relatively short but would usually need atleast 1 shave on the trip.

I'm pretty sure an actual straight is a definite no go on carryon, but would i be allowed to take my Parker and a disposable blade or two on the plane?

Also what do you do for soap and brush. Do they make decent travel kits?

What solutions have y'all found?

How many of you have just switched to checking bags?

I don't know for sure, but I'd bet that a shavette with blades would make the TSA go absolutely NUTS, not that there's much left of anyone's dignity after going through their malarkey. Honestly, I think they'd try to detain you for having anything sharper than a harsh remark in your carry-on. I'd be inclined to wrap the razor well and put it in your check-in baggage.

I have had the single blade BiG razors and there was no problem , I would think any cartridge will be fine.
You can't have any straights shavettes or DE blades on the carry on.

I just got back from a vacation a couple weeks ago and took my st8 and gear in shaving kit packed well and put into the middle of one of the checked suitcase with no problems. I oiled the blades and wraped them in padding and had no troubles but I was nervous untill I saw that they made the trip OK. I also took some aftershaves that I put in ziplok bags thinking they might break but that was good to, nothing broke.

Cartridges are okay for carry on. DE, SE, and Straight are not. As has been said, if you really want to bring one of the latter mentioned blades, a check bag well cushioned and protected would be your best bet.

You could take your parker sans blade and find a cvs at your destination to pick up a pack. But razor blades in carry on baggage will get you a cavity search.
