I want the guys who bust their humps for their paycheck to reply to this please. Here's what I'm really lookin for though. I'm into getting a great shave that wont make my kids go hungry lol. I would rather lather up with steel wool glued to a dried dog turd than spend 80 or 90 bucks on a brush. If you reply, I as a nube will keep an eye out for your posts and remember to dig what ya say. I also want to weed out some like minded peeps. so if you have tattoos on your neck or hand reply. if you ride or drive something you built yourself reply. if you have ever been asked not to return to a bar reply. been asked not to return to a state reply. if you can weld reply. if you have sunday church overalls reply. you get it. I know you can be all these things and still love to pay 350 bucks for a strop but you dig. thanks

cheap brushes are ~15 bucks at Amazon, even cheaper with the VDH set from Walmart/CVS/Rite Aid etc.

Are you talking about blue collar or felons?

I used to be blue collar, but upgraded to white collar about 10 years ago. I am free to go as I please in all 50 states though.

I know some cheaper options, but this damn white collar will not let the words out. Sorry.

We had a member, Bluegill, who posted SOTD shots that were for just these guys. 'Soap made by his sister, humble gear, and he wrote about the love of a shave that was second to none. I may love the small amount of gucci gear I have, but at least 1/2 my rotation are razors that were $10-20 that shave w/ the best. My 'go to' brush was $4 at an antique store. Being a slow learner about stropping, I bought leather and am still using that strop 14 months later. I'm currently finishing up a puck of VDH, I can't tell the difference between that and Col. Conk glycerine. (trust me - Provence Sante is WORTH IT).

There's always a tendency to highlight the fancy and the costly. That's not all bad, but I love the humble, faithful tool that just delivers the goods day in and day out. 'Hope this thread gets legs.

Take it easy fellas. Most of that was a joke. I have never been asked to leave anyplace. And I'm not about cheap I just dont feel like obsessing over a brush or soap. Had another great shave last night. love that razor. Let me say this. I know that FANCY is not bad. in fact I drool at pics of 500$ razors but I know I will never have one. and I never buy one if I found 500 bucks in the street. dont need it.please please dont let this get ugly. tongue in cheek post lookin for peeps I relate to.

I'm just heading in to try one old heljestrand (extra hollow) and an obscure soligen GCTC (1/2 grind) - with the ratty old brush, the homemade strop and the last of the VDH. I love trying all the blades. The day will start off great.

Does getting kicked out of a city count? Long story. A great cheap cream to pick up would be Erasmic. I think I paid $3.25 for it from West Coast Shaving.

The omega boar brushes start around ten bucks and work well. I probably would still be using it bit the med I got put on to try and get my crohn's under control makes my skin super sensitive and I couldn't quite handle it any more.Frank Shaving badger brushes go for 15-40. I got mine from star shaving. I also picked up one of his 2" latigo strops. I think it was 15 bucks or so. It's not as nice as other strops but it works well and care was put into its design and creation.
