Default Purchasing Shaving Products in Europe - Carry on plane?

    All,

I am visiting Europe (France and Italy) in a few weeks and would like to purchase a razor and shaving soap while there. I'll be flying commercial flights with but by train between countries. I did read a few posts, but they were dated several years ago and I am looking to see if anyone has had different experiences since then. So my questions are :

Razors are prohibited for carry-on. But I assume I could check a small bag with the razor. Would it be better (although slightly more expensive) to just have the razor shipped?
Which do you feel is more reliable in getting the item back to the states?

Shaving soap: I assume since it it solid that it can be placed in carry-on luggage. Please correct me if I am misreading the TSA rules....

Shaving cream: I assume this falls under the 3-1-1-1 rules for liquids. Again correct me if i am wrong.

I plan on having a daypack, and in the event that I am not allowed to carry something on, I should be able to check this bag.

Thanks for your help in advance,
    C.

put the razor in your checked luggage... put the soap and cream in a ziplock bag IF you put it in your carry one........ *(i work for a major airline here in miami florida).....

MY suggestion just to keep bs to a minimum is just put soap/cream/razor in your checked luggage and you will not have to worry about overzealous tsa employees.....

thats my advice and is probably worth what you paid for it.... lol.....

    have a great flight...

I believe you have your facts pretty much straight(pun intended)
Checking in razors is IME hazzle free. I've done that on numerous occasions.
The soap and cream tubs were rejected at Heathrow, Gardermoen and Schiphol here in Europe, So I would just check that as well when travelling.

Thanks Paco and Birnando. It seems like checking it would be the way to go...

Checking them is your best option. What I do when travelling with cigars is to put them in a 32oz hard Nalgene bottle. Keeps them safe during transit. I would imagine something like that would work for your razor(s) and brush(es) as well, just use some padding with it and make sure you toss in a dessicant pack or two. I've also seen glasses cases that people have repurposed to be razor cases.

If the particular country has a reputation for theft in checked baggage and it's a nice item I think I would look at insured shipping.
