First time I've ever tried shaving a face that wasn't my own and the first time my best mate has experienced a cut-throat shave. I started him off with his grand-dad's old razor, a nice, but worn, Crown and Sword ERN razor, but I had to let him try for himself, and indeed the whole point of the exercise was to get him over his nerves. Mission accomplished there, and it was me that had the nerves after doing half his face (nick/cut free), so i was only too happy to hear him ask to try his own hand with the razor.
He was impressed with the smooth patch I had created, and when doing it for himself, took to it like he was born with a razor in his hand...Well not quite, but he did a very good job, and under my watchful eye, was able to do a two pass shave excluding the chin. I wasn't able to help him much with that area, as I have only shaved my goatee off once in the last 15 years or so, and that was only to see how a cut-throat would go (very well of course). Once does not make me an expert though, and rather than me giving ill advice, and having my mate get an off putting cut, I suggested he finish off with his DE and gradually work up to the chin area. Next time I get back that way I will be taking him one of my own razors to give him a two razor rotation. Just until he gets another of his own of course (My razors are all like part of my little family after all! )...
