Thanked: 11Spreading the word
I find straight shaving so much better then cartridges I want everyone to do it! I went to a party last week and each guy I spoke with got him talking about shaving. I managed to convince 2 guys to try straights and 3 others to switch from canned goop to soaps and brushes. At least that's what they said when drunk. One guy wanted me to shave him but I declined until I have a LOT more experience.
Anyone else find themselves doing this?
I'm not knocking on doors yet but I might. Hmmm, maybe I can ask for donations, good for the RAD problem...

Thanked: 270I'm doing it, but not getting results. The cartridges and disposables have been the norm for about 40 years, and people literally think that I'm some kind of daredevil to use a straight, or even a DE razor because you have to handle a blade to install it. It surprises me how many people are afraid of the older, better shaving methods and continue using the overpriced junk as long as their wife or girlfriend doesn't complained.

I don't try to convert anyone. I don't want them raiding my antique stores.

Thanked: 31It sometimes can be disharting when 99% of the time, people think your "Tempting Fate" or doing a highly dangerous activity. I guess all we can do is hope our excitement over str8 shaving will rub off on them.

Thanked: 1587Yes, every male in my third year advanced statistics classes for the past 6 years have gotten the "talk". I even gave away Wapis and roo strops and free honing to the interested ones, until I ran out of wapis. I suppose I could start giving away my Bengalls, but I feel that is going way above and beyond the call of duty - No one gets a free Bengall unless they are very special indeed.

Thanked: 247I tell everyone who mentions shaving. Oddly, most people immediately wince, then either walk away, or look at me as if I might be an axe murderer. Which is completely ridiculous. I mean seriously, how can you murder an axe? But I see the shaving shops going up, and I see SR's in commercials and movies now more than ever. The new SR revolution began a long time ago, it's just gonna take a little more steam I think to get us over the top. If only we could get those three famous guys to use one in a commercial...
