    Thumbs up Hi folks (again)

Hi folks, long time no visit forum!

I've been away a while, from both the forum and straight razors, for various reasons. I started using a DE again a couple of years ago as I was doing a lot of traveling, and downsized my straight collection at the time. More recently, I grew a beard so the shaving pretty much stopped!

The two straights I kept both suffered as a result of a water leak in our old bathroom and by the time I discovered they had gotten wet - they had quite a bit of rust on them. They may be salvageable - but I'll need to do a fair bit of work on them.

Fast forward to last night. I was sitting in the cinema last night watching Skyfall with my better half, and was scratching my chin and thinking - man this beard is really ****ing itchy right now. And of course moments later there's the scene where James Bond is trying to use his straight razor; a lightbulb went on in my mind and I'm sitting there with an itching face remembering how fantastic my straight-razor shaves were - and it struck me what I've been missing. My girlfriend presumably sensed the rusty cogs turning in my head and whispered "I'd better not see any boxes from Lynn or Maestro Livi arriving in the mail"!

So after the movie, I had to lose the beard - immediately. Most of my stuff is in boxes as we've just moved house so I hit the local supermarket on the way home and bought a Wilkinson Sword Quattro with a little trimmer on the end (yeah - I was desperate!).

As soon as I got home, I hand lathered with a tube of Palmolive cream (all I could find - but is great stuff), and hacked/clipped/shaved the beard away. Damn it feels good now!

Then I hit up the internet, and ordered a shave ready Thiers 'Le Grelot' 6/8, the cheapest "decent" razor I could find in stock locally and deliverable to my house within a couple of days.

Now I just need to sort through the moving boxes and find the hones, strop and brushes/soaps, and figure out a way prevent the inevitable 'new razor argument'.

Anyway just wanted to say hi again, hopefully I'll be around a bit more often and will be able to catch up with the old crew.

    Cheers.

Welcome back!! It was nice to see Mr. Bond shave with a Str8. He also seemed to be able to turn it into an erotic event. I've not been able to accomplish that one yet.

Cheers, yeah it was a good scene. My girlfriend asked if I'd let her re-enact the scene, after a microsecond I said "not bloody likely!".
