Thanked: 0Starting my journey
Good day, gentlemen!
I've been enjoying SRP for about a month now and decided it was time to join in the fun. If I would have known this is where the rest of the internet has been while everybody else is posting cat pictures, I'd have been here long ago! Anyway, to make a long story at least have point, my wife bought me an AOS starter kit and since then, i have really taken to shaving. I recently purchased a gorgeous Orthello from Obie and am excited to start. Having just had our first child (a girl) I decided it was time to start manning up; I've taken to wearing a watch, bought a house, and put in for a promotion I'm been wimping out on...and so figured straight razor shaving should be next. All this is to say that I'm ready to start my journey...
One problem
I can't grow facial hair.
I am fortunate enough to have great genes that make me tall and slender...but also make it so I only grow the whisper of a Van Dyke... making me look halfway between "guy who drives a panel van" and 14 year old. My dad was shaving a full beard freshman year of high-school so I figure now at the ripe old age of 24, I should be have something in the way of facial hair. Sadly, not the case.
Fortunately,we live in time and place where God has been gracious enough to bless old geezers and unfortunate young geezers with Rogaine. After a bit of research, I've decided, if it can work on scalps, I'm trying it on my face.
So, here's the premise, twice a day I will be applying the off brand Rogaine to my face (mixadill or something along those lines). I start tomorrow morning and will be posting pictures to track my profess. I figure twice a day for 6 months should be enough to at least spark some growth; what do you fine gents think? Anybody try this before? Tips ?Tricks? Pointers?
In the meantime, I plan to continental shaving my peachfuzz with my gorgeous straight and see how this pans out.
Also, I'm looking at strops and found one from Fromm, it looks exactly like an Illinois 127....is it the same thing? Or for even cheaper, i think 15,there is a block strop on our classifieds, feelings on that for a newbie?
Thanks for reading,
Regards

First welcome to the forum
Second sounds like you don't need the Shaggy from Scooby doo look happening so shaving it is, and if that is with a straight or DE all the better in my book.
Third I believe Rogaine regrows hair by stimulating follicles that were active at one time, I am far from an expert and as you have my curiosity peaked,
if you continue please post the progress as I will be following it.
Regards
Pat

Thanked: 0Good news. The rogaine knockoff brand seems to be working. I won't say I see massive response but I am noticing Some dark peach fuzz around my sideburns and a small improvement t the speed at which my van dyke is growing. Its been just over a week and I'm pleased withe the perceived progess. My strop comes in on Thursday and I'll snag some before and after pix. Hopefully within a few months we'll see quanatative improvements.
