It's been held over September or October in the past, so we are fast approaching that time again. I look forward too seeing some more folks this time around. Last year we had light attendance. :)
I do believe it is time to start the discussion I will change the name of the thread too while I am at it
Where
When
We normally aim toward the end of September or the first week or so of October
so Sundays
Sept 22
Sept 29
Oct 6
Oct 13
What are the thoughts of perhaps farther West and see if some of the Seattle and Portland guys will join in ????
I'm good with any one of those dates, but I just need a fair bit of lead time,
due to family commitments and travel arrangements.
Is Portland a possibility? Or Seattle? Any city with AmTrak service is best
for me.
It's a long trip from here, and I'll be riding the train to get there, but I sure am
looking forward to it.
Cheers and thanks,
Paul
Depending on location, date, and time I would be down for this. Putting my name in the basket so I remember to check this thread out every once in a while for updates.
I would love to be there but won't be around; maybe next year. I learned a lot this spring and appreciate everyone's hospitality and coaching!
Hopefully Robert and I can travel up to Spokane together this year!!
That's the plan right now and it looks like it will happen!!
Same Susi Bar, same time????
Please Keep Us in the Loop as to what's going on!
OK. I'll start the ball rolling.
I vote for September 22nd. And October 6th is no good for me.
Cheers,
Paul
Furthermore....Spokane, or Portland, or Seattle or Sandpoint, Idaho would be OK sites.
Anyplace served by AmTrak is fine with me.
Paul
Throwing my name in the hat as well. Can't garuntee I can come but I'm working on it. Any of the dates put forth by Glen would work for me. Spokane is about as far East as I can reasonably go. Western WA, and Western OR are better, but Spokane is doable.
Note: If the meet up get set for someplace I can't make it to, it's not a big deal. Will just try to make it next the next year :)
Update:
As long as its not farther east than Spokane I'm in!
I'm all for the Portland area. Don't really travel very much anymore and sure would like to meet face to face with some of the guys whose entries I've been reading. Any weekend is good for me. I'm 30 miles west of Portland and have easy public transportation into Portland.
Voting for Oct 13th. Gives me a travel day afterwords without burning vacation.
I added a Poll for the dates, and made it multiple choice so you can vote any date/dates you like..
As to the Coast or Spokane...
Spokane is easy because it is easy to set up, plus Sushi.com likes us and takes care of us..
I also don't mind a trip to Seattle etc: as the wife would love that, but I have no way of setting up the logistics of a meet out there, so if enough of you coastal guys want it out there somebody has to take the ball and get some ideas for where to have it...
I have been busy as of late, personal issues.
I have started a new razor. Its been over a year already.
I am good with any of the dates if it here in Spokane. If we opt for Seattle or Portland areas then unknown, but probably doable.
Jeff
Pencil me in if you want for any of the day's and locations. Juggling a couple dozen things right now but it"s looking like my other late Oct "obligation" isn't going to happen so I might just have finances available. No promises

I'm open for all dates in Spokane. A lot depends on my travel companion and his schedule!
I do hope to be there! I've missed the comradeship and the learning let alone the good food and service of Susi.com!! :tu

Ok gents getting close are we decided on the 29th ???
Can we get some confirmations on who is coming ???
Are we pulling the trigger? The 29th sounds great. I will be there...... Spokane I assume?
Man, where am I when these Threads start?! Definitely interested.
Maybe not for this year but would Ellensburg be a more central location? I have no problem doing leg-work and getting things set up. Both my kids go to Central so there may be places on Campus cheap/free that could be used for a Meet. They have some decent restaurants there but nowhere near the diversity of Spokane. Just throwing ideas out there... I'm pretty good at organizing/finding resources, etc. Someplace a little further south is the Mary Hill Winery... They do all kinds of stuff there. In fact, that may be an avenue to consider is having it hosted at a Winery in general... I'm sure their business starts to step off in the Fall so might be able to get a great deal.

Where and when in Spokane? I've never gone but would like to. Agenda? Address? Times? Recommended motels? Thank you.
Looks like Robert and I’m in! He’s planning on coming to my place Friday, and then we can hang out here on Saturday and catch up then head up on Sunday! I’ve requested the 27th, 28th and 29th off! Unless I get sideswiped at work it should work!
I’m presuming it will start at noon on the 29th at Susi.com.
I’m really looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones!:tu
Let the fun begin!:y
Will make the reservations tomorrow
12 noon at Sushi.com Sunday Sept 29th
Sushi.com
Did some poking around and booked a room at the Fairbridge Inn Express Looked fairly nice, booked it for two nights on hotels.com for $60 a night.
Sushi.com 9-29-13 I'm in.
90% certain I'm there and trying to talk Gerrit into coming along as well. Will just be doing an up/back this time but in the past I've stayed at the Rodeway Inn downtown which is corner across the street from the Davenport (... head thrown back/nose in the air and pronounced "Dahvenpohrt", Dahling...). ;-) The Rodeway is super cheap at like $45/night and has free, off-street parking. It is "Dive-ish" but has mini-frig/microwave and a nice late 70's/early 80's décor. It was just a place to crash but it was darn cheap and it was clean enough/safe enough for my tastes and was easily walking distance to a LOT of downtown dining and night-life. So, depending on your tastes, it is a perfectly fine hotel if you are just looking to crash.
I'll be driving my truck so have a couple spots in the back seat (4-door Ram 1500) if someone is not too leggy or is flexible and wants to come with. PM me if interested. Probably around 8am leaving Yakima and will be passing through Ellensburg, Moses Lake, etc on the way up/back.

If I could only teleport myself there I'd be there.
'Means 6hr drive back from Spokane to be at work next day. Either leave the meet at 2-3pm or arrive home late. Sorta knocks me out of the running.
For anyone that is not able to make it to Spokane this year... Any ideas on a general location for next year if a change is possible? I've been to Portland a bunch but never with the intention of paying close enough attention to where a get-together could be held... Lots of Hotels in areas like Hood River, OR that might hook us up with a Conference Room and same with Goldendale, WA.
If we start talking about it and throwing ideas around that might be a way to flip-flop it every other year doing once in Spokane to catch the NE corner of WA and then somewhere else the following year to catch the SW corner of WA or North Central OR.
????
Once I get enough information to kind of head in a direction I can start another Thread with a Poll or some such and try to get as much information filtered as possible.
And, ride is still open from Yakima and back if anybody can get this far.

As far as future meets, my only concerns would NOT being farther East, as much heads up as possible (requesting time off of work) and maybe SWMBO friendly... antique, "decorative" stores and what not...... If there is anything that needs to be done, I will help if needed.
Matt
I'm going to suggest the Portland area, specifically 30 miles west in Forest Grove, a small commuting town and a home of Pacific University. There is also a large McMenamins Grand Lodge converted from an old Masonic retirement home on several acres of land. There is a decent number of motels also because of the University. Reasonable dining in the area. Location should draw a large number of Oregonian str8 shavers and southern Washington also. Glen indicated if a place could be found in this area he would come. I will, over the next several months look into spaces and the like. I need to know from someone if there is a budget allotted to finance the operation or what. How has it been handled in the past? PM with any info available so I can know if it can be done in this area. I'm also sure that the few stores in Portland that have men's shaving goods might be interested to have a booth or such to try to sell to a captive audience.
There has never been a "Budget" nor cost to the members, we have used free venues at all these... Mostly restaurants with a large enough area for us and that they are happy to have our business for the day..
I am good for the Portland or Seattle area I have old friends in either place that I would love to see
Remember that we also have been doing a Yakima meetup in the Springtime so let's keep that in mind too
Wont be able to make it Sunday but will be interested in the Yakima spring meetup
If I get there at all this weekend, I'll have to overcome some unexpected obstacles. I will be wishing you all a good time without me. I would be interested in a near-Portland meet and would do my best to make it there if you got one going.
Are there things we need to bring to this? Do people Trade or ?? I've never been to a Meet so wondering what structure and/or expectations there may be...

And, looks like there is enough interest in a West-Side Portland/Seattle Meet so I'll go ahead and start a Thread to get discussion moving.

Bring Hones and Razors and whatever else you want to discuss
Many times people do trading and some selling, but mostly it is Eat Drink and talk sharp stuff :p
Can't wait, see you tomorrow at noon
Hi All!
Well I've exhausted every venue that I can on how to make it to the meet! I got the days off that I requested but I'm not going to be able to make it! :banghead: To say that I'm disappointed would be a Huge Understatement!
The comradeship is wonderful, the hands on learning can't be beaten! For those that will be able to make it I envy you!
The atmosphere at Sushi.com and the friendly staff really seem to appreciate not only our business with them but that they can provide an inviting place for us to meet!
I hope that all who can attend find the event will have as an enjoyable time as I have in the past! :tu

I think perhaps it is time for a roll call considering the storm that is rolling in.. I don't mind driving in weather but I sure don't want to drive through 60-80 MPH wind and 2 inches of rain if there are only going to be a couple of people coming....
I don't blame you in the least my friend! There's no sense putting yourself in harms way! From what I've read and seen it could be one hell of a storm. One prediction is that the Coast/Seattle may have one of the wettest September's on record!
Stay Safe!
