The Great Midwestern Meetup!
Alright, so I may be getting ahead of myself with that title
. But, nonetheless, I'd like to get a Midwestern meetup rolling!
First & foremost, I'd like to invite my fellow Hoosiers (and any stately neighbors) to gather, meet, & mingle. I suggest meeting in Indy. I'm perfectly willing wo host it myself, here in Fort Wayne, but our place is not exactly spacious. Also, all the highways meet in Indy, so it is centrally located for roughly a third of the nation.
Meeting in Indy, however, presents a problem: location, location, location! Where would we meet? We could always gather at a restaurant, shopping center, or other public place... depending on how many of us show up. There is an AoS in Indy, but would they willingly host a gaggle of shaving enthusiasts? For free??
As you can see, I don't have anything specific nailed down. IMO, there is no harm in the organizational development of such events being a communal effort. I'm will to put in the effort, I just happen to lack the resources to host a proper meetup all on my own.
And when would we have it??
Anyway. What does everyone else think??
P.S. Just a thought, but I have already put in to have the week of Thanksgiving off for vacation. My wife already told me "I love your family, but there's no way I can stay a whole week down there, 6hrs away from home..." lol. So part of that week is free for me!

Thanked: 3795In general, the best location for Midwestern meet-ups is Minnesota.

Hehe. I wanted to get a Hoosier meetup rolling, but didn't want to exclude out of state folks. Especially since Indiana is the "crossroads of America".

That's a reasonable idea. I'll be in indy a couple times this year, a third won't hurt. Another excuse for a pre-roadtrip Cracker Barrel breakfast food binge.

Thanked: 2209Check out the Knights of Columbus, VFW, American Legion etc. They usually have modest rates and you can always "ask" for a cover charge. Also look for local knife clubs and see if they would be willing to share space on one of their meeting dates.
