Hey just tossing out a feeler to see if anyone would be interested in having a get together
Sounds good to me. I'd be willing to drive or hold it at my place. I have a large balcony, the roof to my garagr. However, small apt. Nice weather would be good, bad weather would be quite limited in space. However, I am open to better ideas
Hi Jason
Count me in.
I would be interested.

Where is Seth when you need him. Let's see what we cab do
I would like to go to one this close! Good antiquing there also!
~Richard
Depending on the date I may be able to attend.
If Randy's going, I'll beg yet another ride!
Jason, I know I left a power cord at your place. Did I leave you with an Arashiyama 1k hone too?
Any preference on date? location? I can't do Aug 4-7th, everything else should be in the clear until Oct/Nov.
Tomah is midway between Milwaukee and Minneapolis, probably the most convenient location, depending on where we can meet.
Well, Randy does not really need to pick me up if it is in Tomah since it's less than 2 hours away from me. We've had a meet-up at Jason's already and he's got a good sized basement for it, AND a wife who has the good sense to leave for the day!
On the other hand Waukesha would pick up more Chicago people, if we could get some of them to show up!
For location and date, someone just needs to make an executive decision and see what happens.
I would suggest that you check with a moderator about amending the title of this thread to make it more clear. Honestly, I thought it was for a Winnipeg meet-up.
Ron I got both of them. I will have to make a trip up to rod nester to go to the big mayo. I'm having issues again. But I'm game for just about anything.
Would be fun to make that one, isn't it close to Tomahawk? Tc
Oh damn. I'm very sorry to hear that. Let me now if I can help. Our house is a disaster but within walking distance of Mayo. If you need to stay for multiple days and need a place to sleep while you are here I will work something out for you. It would be a couch or futon so not the most comfortable but it is available if you need it. If you need honing distractions while you are here I have a few hundred hones for you to play with. Hell, whatever you need, just let me know. For a start, let me know what dates you will be at Mayo.
Get in touch with me if there is anything that I can do to help. Even, or especially, it it just involves alcohol.
The first week in August I will be in Iowa at a 5 day forging class so before July 31 or after August 7.
Somebody come up what a date and let me know a couple weeks ahead of time I take the day off.
Aug. 5 thru 9 is out for me.
Well that's not bad, I won't be coming from Tennessee, I,ll be coming across the badlands after I leave Walla Walla Washington and Sandpoint Idaho, if your dates fall right I can stop in, may even have to stop and say hi to Howard or any of you folks up in Wisconsin. Tc
I would be in, depending on the date - and I'm posting this to keep the thread bumped and see if we can get something planned. :)
I think as mentioned the post name should be fixed, a lot of people will not understand which meet this is,, I mean it's a wisconsin meet,, how will most know? Tc
So, let's do this.
Tentatively, Aug 13th is a good date for me. Come on over and have some beers. I have enough tables/chairs to seat 8 people comfortably on my patio/parking garage roof (there's a huge pagoda thingie, so no worries about sitting in the sun all day if you don't want to). The apartment complex has mentioned doing some construction to change the area, but for the time it should be fine and we can roll with the punches if something changes. If there's rain, my "kitchen" table can still fit 8 people; however, chairs will be limited. If there are more than 8 people, we will find a way.
I would prefer to not start this at an ungodly hour in the morning, but can accommodate as necessary. That being said, if there is anyone in the area that would like assistance getting to my place, I can pick you up. I would prefer to stay within 30 minutes drive time one way (for example, picking up anyone in Milwaukee would be a cinch and I have a stationwagon). There's many options for food, although grilling is a gigantic PITA at my place, have to walk 2-300 yards to the top of a hill just to get to the grill. Something I've been entirely too lazy to do.
Well that lets a few Minnesotans out.
~Richard
On the bright side, it's closer to the Chicago area so hopefully you can get a better draw from there.
yeah, Waukesha is over 7 hours, and unlikely for me.
Daaaaang it! We'll take pics for ya
Seems this started as a thread for Minn. and Wisc. folks to get together ner to both. And along a major highway intersection.
Just sayin'
~Richard
Well, there's no law that there can be only one meet-up. If Dinnermint is willing to host at his place, that's great. That does not preclude another one in a different location. Hopefully it would be on a different day.
I'm alright with more meets. My offer to drive will still stand if I can make it to the middle ground meet.
I would be happy to host, but I'm pretty out of the way - unless there is a northern Minnesota / Wisconsin contingent I am not aware of! I am about an hour north of Duluth. I do have a nice big workshop area with lots of counter space in basement, and another big area in my garage, a grill, and space for at least a dozen. I am not ruling out driving to Waukesha, (sounds like a grand time, and thanks for the offer dinnermint!) but my vote would be a little closer to the border with Minnesota.
I'll start a new thread for SE WI/ Chi meet, so we don't cross streams trying to organize two meets in one thread.
OK, so what do we do with this thread now that Dinnermint has baled on those of us to the West?
:)
Well, wait! but... errrrr. Not baling, just preventing confusion! I'm still interested in going to a meet over by you guys in the slightly colder clim's
I thought the smiley face made my intentions clear!
Arranging a meet-up is always a good thing. The Chicago area certainly needs more, so your location is better for them.
We'll have to come up with a plan for something a little more to the west and of course you and all are welcome.
Tomah or Rochester seem to be in reach..or how about the St Paul brewery we did a couple years back?
~Richard
I think that the Tomah location is good at this time and we should set a date for that.
Have you spoken with Jason since he posted here? I'm wondering if he's up for it.
