Randy and I discussed this. Nearly half the people there were mentors. Hence, the questions were typically about the finer points in this hobby. Still, we all learned something. Some comments were made about feeling a bit out of place considering the knowledge base of the attendees. This is wrong and needs to be addressed in the announcement of the meet.
The next meet should be more geared to new people. The teaching of honing will always be a priority but there are so many other aspects that need to be discussed. Simply making a good lather is worth demonstrating.
Be thinking of ways to draw less experienced people to these meets. The hobby will grow if we make the effort to teach the basics in an environment that does not intimidate the newbs.
