Well if I were going to make it Paco, that would be enough for me and one or two others. They are easy to eat and and go down fast.

Definitely not a great meet if you’re on anything but a see-food diet.
I will spring for Tacos one evening before TC's creations come alive if there is interest.
Things are coming together now.
THANKS to you all.
We have the steel, belts and propane in the shop.
TC has the food figured out.
Mudbugs - Woot!
The only things I am low on are pinning stuff and scale material.
see you soon
That box I sent you also has a plate of kirinite that can be used for scales. It's eggyolk cheese yellow, but it should be functional.
Just a reminder to all.
Steel and grinding belts are being supplied but if you want to make scales or other things then be sure to bring your own scale material, pinning material, collars etc. and tools. We don't mind helping but materials and such are your responsibility.
I'm sending Brass and Silver Nickel Rod directly to Charlies.
Austin (ajkenne) has offered to send a collection of his work directly to Charlies--N/C.
I plan on bringing some bone blanks, some acrylic blanks and some stabilized wood.
While not related to making scales, once gain there will be homemade cinnamon rolls and biscuits by our friend Carolyn :y
Just a reminder to all.

Those look sweet. Do you make them?
If someone more experienced wants to try their hand at regrinding a ROUGH blade, let me know. I was going to make a hobby knife out of it, but maybe someone can make it look decent again. I had planned to replace it, but since the maker is do obscure it would nice if someone could try to save it.
By obscure, I mean Zak said he had never heard of them!!
Tang says "John Askham Broadlaneworks"
Someone took a grinder or other power tool to it and made a mess.
And no, it wasn't me.
Just a thought.
As you can see, you really can't make it look any worse.

Wow! That is a real shame. I dont think id want to try that without a real belt grinder.
Funny, I thought about asking if anyone had old blades that need to be re-ground that they'd be willing to part with. I'd like to take the time this year to spend time learning how it's done.
Pete <:-}
Assuming that the temper isn't blown, that is probably salvageable.
Restoring an old razor would probably be of interest to a good many of us.:)
Hey Dave, are there any salvageable blades in that pile I left at your house?
I will bring some blades to practice restoration. These are not good blades so don't worry about ruining them.
Main points are:
Unpinning
Drilling out pins
Sanding - hours and hours of fun
Use of corks
Sanding sticks and diamond sticks
Metal polish
Making scale blanks
Cutting scales
Making wedges and spacers. Which one to use, compound wedges
Thrust washers and bearings
Pinning
You should bring:
Scale material. I suggest wood
1/16 brass rod and 1/16 ID Brass tubing
Brass washers
Sandpaper
Rags
Pinning hammer. Small is good
Anvil
Loupe and/or magnifying glass
Patience. Lots of patience
PM me if you have questions
And Dave has done a fair number of regrinds, plus he has an amazing grinder. It should be good learning for those wanting to learn to restore as well as those wanting to build new. This meet is always packed full of knowledge.
Dave'd grinder is awesome. I've have gone with a couple Bader 3's myself if shipping 100 lbs of steel wasn't rather expensive.
I have a couple of Daves restorations and they are excellent. He is a stickler for detail and doing things correctly. (Drives me nuts! :) )
We are professionals and forget at times. Let us not forget that. We were all there when we started our venture into straight razor shaving.
Roy is bringing plenty of 1/16 rod stock. Thanks, Roy!

14 days and a wakeup. :)
Well everything is coming together,
Everything is working out other than a place to go shooting.
This place has opened between Burkburnett and Wichita Falls. It is a short drive from the shop https://www.wichitafallsgunrange.com
It is not as fun as dirt berms in a field, but it is better than nothing.
You're going shooting too?!
I have to try and attend the next meet. :aargh:
