Thanked: 995Puukko Knife Class...Sept 10-13, 2009
Okay, I know it's not exactly razors, but I have seen folks shave with this kind of knife.
My friend Kay Vikstrom from Finland is coming over to each a class at my shop. The reason I post this is that the processes for making any blade will be covered. From forging, grinding through heat treatment, handles and leather sheath. No previous experience is required. Kay is a most excellent teacher and master smith.
Cost will be 150 USD plus materials, usually 25 depending on leather prices and the cost of the birch shipped in. You will leave with a knife in hand.
My shop is located just outside Cannon Falls MN.
Any questions you can PM or email crforge (at) frontiernet (dot) net.
I know there are some here interested in other kinds of blades and I didn't want anyone to feel left out. If you're in this class, I'll answer any questions about razors/steels that I know the answers to, for free!

I have a Scandi knife I made using one of his blades a few years ago and it my best knife. Lovely blade.
Wish I could be there too.

Thanked: 995Whoops. I forgot I posted this announcement here!
Unfortunate circumstances have changed this class date until next spring. Likely March or April. Kay has been coming over here for five years or so for classes. It's been my good pleasure to host him during those times.
I'll keep anyone interested, posted about changes as they occur.“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power.” R.G.Ingersoll
