Afternoons around 1500-1700 work best for me.
My vote goes to either beans and brews, or divas!
That all works for me. Chay?
Also, my hones came in today! :y
1500 @ B&B sounds good to me. Anybody have a preference for which location?
The new one on 3300 S at 791 E is pretty spacious. So does that location at 3pm work well for everyone?
I'm partial to 5th & 9th, but 27th has the patio.....
33rd works for me too!!!!!
Count me in. Here's a picture of my ugly mug, so you'll know who to look for:

Also, I'll be the creepy guy sitting alone in the corner by himself, clutching a box of razors:gaah:
I'm in, not sure what i'll look like that day other than tall, dark, and ruggedly handsome! :)
I guess you could say i'll be the guy with no razors, no flats rocks, and no idea what i'm doing.... Yet
Like I told you earlier, I have never used Naniwas before-- but, from what I hear, they do need to be lapped out of the box. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, make sure you soak them first, bring your DMT and a pencil, and I can help you out. It's pretty easy to do, and I hear it's even easier with that DMT that you bought.
Yes, you should lap them, do not soak them though, they're not like the nortons and soaking can damage them. Just leave water on top of them for a coulpe of minutes.
No, it's just that I have the naniwa superstones :)
Okay folks, tomorrow is the day. 3pm is the time. 33rd south Beans and Brews is the place.
I have one suggestion. Beans and brews might not enjoy us getting water and slurry all over their tables. My girlfriend lives in a condo about two blocks away from the coffee shop, on 3oo East. After we all get a cup of coffee and establish that we're not axe murders, should we just head done the street and hone there?
If honing at the coffee shop really is no big deal that I'm good with staying there. Just trying to do what's easiest.
Sounds good to me. BTW, I haven't murdered anyone with an axe in over two years-- I use a straight razor, like any respectable killer would:w
I also PM'd a couple local guys that I'd had contact with before, none of them responded. So I guess it will just be the three of us.
On my way, see ya fellows there.
I just wanna say thank you To Chay2k for the loaner blade and strop. And to Conroygc for the offer of the soaps and kit.
I learned a ton, and got my first straight shave in today.
The shave went well, not super close but I didnt cut myself.
That was fun and you're very welcome Chay how did you like the witch hazel?
Korben get any more shaves in yet? How goes it?
Hey guys:
I just saw the postings on this meetup. Count me in next time.

Hey man, I tried to notify all of the local people that I could find, I must have missed you. I just sent you a friend request, so we can keep you in the loop next time.
BTW, I live just east of Liberty Park-- so, we're practically neighbors if you want to meet up sometime.
Hi:
If you guys are interested I could sure use help honing. I have a Chosera 1K (made by Naniwa, I think) and a bunch of naturals-- a Dalmore Blue, Tam O Shanter, Yellow Lake and some mystery stones that might be Thuringians. Chay, it sounds like you are using a Coticule, but I am thinking you are using some sort of synthetic 1K in the beginning. I am soaking the Chosera for 20 min in water per the company's protocol and lots of comments on this forum--this is different than for the regular Naniwas is my understanding.
I have watched Lynn and gssixgun's videos, but I still don't know what I am doing and cannot get hairs to pop off the Chosera 1K . I clearly need to get back to basics here, slow down and master this. I have this old Krauss and a Dorko that I am using to learn on. I also have a pro honed razor to compare with and I am not even close to that edge. Honing is tougher than I expected and I have a lot of respect for those who are skilled at it.
I have the last two weeks of December off if anyone wants to get together. It could be at a coffee shop or my house, whatever. Restaurants/ coffee shops probably work better if they have a back area and the situation is discussed beforehand with the manager.
Harry
Hey Harry, I'd be more than happy to meet up sometime and see if I can help you out. I personally use a DMT E as my bevel setter, but I've heard great things about the chosera 1K, and would love to try it out.
As far as bevel setting goes, it is the most important part of honing, and often the most patience-testing (the guys in the videos make it look so simple). So, I think it's best not to even think about touching any other stones until you're absolutely certain that the bevel is properly set.
As far as trying to help you pinpoint your problem: What method did you use to lap your hones?
Why don't we make a real tentative plan to have a little meet up in January? Obviously everyone will crazy busy throughout December, so I'm thinking waiting until January would be good.
I think I know a few more people that would probably like to join in.
I'm always down to chill!
Count me in.
I'm brand new to both this forum and to SR shaving but I would love to be there for the next meetup! Leaning things by reading is nice but I'd like to get some tips face to face and just meet some like minded guys.
Hey, glad to see another Utahn around here. We are planning on having another get-together sometime this month, so I'll make sure to keep you informed. In the meantime, if you need any help with anything, just PM me, and I'll try my best to help you out.
We've got a great group of guys on here, so don't hesitate to ask for help-- and welcome to the club.
Hey fellas, since we never made that Jan meet-up happen, how about getting together sometime in April. This warm weather has got me thinking about doing something outdoors: sunshine, frosty beer, burning cigars, and the sound of razors on rocks.
If you're interested, respond to this thread-- if we decide to move forward, we can start another thread about it. I look forward to hearing from you guys.
That sounds utterly amazing. I would clear my schedule for whatever day is chosen.
Sounds good to me Chay, I need to return a few things to you anyways. I like the outdoor idea. Maybe a picnic or bbq at the park?

As a matter of fact, I would volunteer to man the grill. It's one of the few things I have a God given talent for.

I would certainly be interested in getting together.
